🟣 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT – SHANNON JOLLEY

When Shannon Jolley steps onto the platform at Here Come The Girls Leg 2, Sunday 29th June 2025 all I will say is, wear ear defenders. Shannon is bringing the NOISE!!

Known as the “Dead Angry Deadlifter,” Shannon’s approach to Event 1 is simple: lift heavy, lift hard, and mentally bury everyone who made the list.

Shannon's game face? Intense. Shannon's lifts? Even more so.

This is muscle-mum energy at its peak and Shannon is not here to make up the numbers, she’s here to compete.

A big fan of fellow powerhouse Shannon shouts out her fave strength athlete for juggling single mum life and serious lifting something she knows a thing or two about herself.

Shannon stepped into a gym after mentally and physically hating herself… Shannon finally braved the weights and quickly realised how naturally strong compared to other females she was. Then Shan came across Carly

After a few months with Carly, Carly was able to convince Shan to plunge into her first novice comp.

Shan flew through the events and won. Now she's coming Here Come The Girls' Leg 2 to try inters..

Shan will unquestionably be nervous however when competing Shannon found she changes as a person and the primal self comes out. Shannon takes competing seriously so I will bring the war with me. Are you ready?

Post-comp, she’s keeping it chill with a well-earned cold beer.

🟣 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT – MEG NICOLE

No nickname needed. Just Meg—and that says everything.

Fresh from a near clean sweep at Leg 1 in Atherstone with 4 wins out of 5 Meg returns to the platform with a quiet focus. Make no mistake Meg will not turn up to coast. Meg is here to repeat, and with her coach Jonah O’Brien in her corner, she’s a genuine title contender.

Meg’s strength is matched only by her humility. Meg is quick to praise her coaching, quick to credit the graft, and quicker still when there’s a log to press or farmers to carry. Those are her signature events and if you blink, you’ll miss the control, the speed, the precision.

🟣 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT – STELLA ALEXANDRA

There’s something special about watching a lifter who absolutely lives for deadlifts and at Here Come The Girls Leg 2 on Sunday 29th June, Stella Alexandra will be bringing that love to the platform with serious intent.

Fresh off a 2nd place finish in Atherstone earlier this year, Stella’s momentum is undeniable. With her steady composure, and a warm smile that flips into fierce focus under the bar, Stella one to keep your eyes on when Event 1 rolls around.

A proud fan of strength legends Paul Smith who Stella describes as “underrated and lovely” and Mark Felix “a long-time powerhouse”, Stella embodies that same quiet resilience and hard-won strength.

Stella lifts with heart and plans to celebrate with a few glasses of wine and cuddles with her dog, which frankly sounds like a winning podium ritual to us.

🟣 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT – SHANNON BODILY

If you are looking for a transformation story of weight-loss, whilst also growing in strength then look no-further. Since working with for just over a year Shannon and her journey is truly inspirational.

Representing the unstoppable force that is Shannon has packed a serious transformation into her first year in the sport, building strength, confidence, and a proper strong presence. If Shannon's love of the yoke is anything to go by, she's not slowing down anytime soon.

“My favourite event?” she says. “Running with the yoke on my back it’s pure satisfaction.”

That engine, that drive, and fast feet will unquestionable come in handy both in the keg run and the tire flips on Sunday 29th June 2025.

Off the platform, Shannon draws inspiration from fellow Dedicated Strength Athlete . A women who's fast rise through the strongwomen game has been nothing short of exceptional, finishing second just last weekend at England's Strongest.

Post-comp? Expect to see Shannon out celebrating with her best friend, who’s making their first ever trip to see her compete.

Desi “Lockout Queen” Gillespie 👑

Fresh off the platform at the World’s Strength Games, Desi is no stranger to big comps and bigger lifts. Desi is a multi-sport international athlete with a no-fuss attitude and an eye for perfect form.

Desi may look friendly, but Desi is a self-confessed Work-a-Holic with an eye for detail and zero-tolerance to soft lockouts. Desi will be making sure all our athletes on the day receive fair and consistent judging so that the best women wins.

If Desi gives you a no rep, it is always with done love (and maybe a wink). Desi is here to set the standard, hype the lifters, and hold the line.

We would like to thank Desi for joining us for this event. The inclusion of both Desi and Kelly as referees shows just how supportive the community within Strongwomen is. They both give up their time, to support the sport and help grow Strong women as a sport.

Kelly “Killer Grip” Roberts 💪

Having refereed so many of the ALFitness competitions at both local and national level and competed in strongwomen events across the country, Kelly can spot a soft rep from across the car park. Known for her iron stare and legendary grip strength, Kelly will be one of our two legendary head referees on the day.

So whether it’s a max deadlift or overhead press, if you hear “DOWN!" you’ll know you earned it as Kelly doesn't give soft reps!

You cannot argue with Kelly's experience, she has worked enough comps for a whole wardrobe of free T-shirts.

We would like to thank Kelly for supporting this event. Kelly brings such a wealth of knowledge, experience, laughter and cheer that the day Here Come The Girls' event day experience wouldn't have been the same without her.

We’ve had to level up… because you lot showed up.

We’ve had double the number of athletes sign up compared to last year – and loads of you asked about bringing spectators. So we listened.

Here Come The Girls: Leg 2 will now take place at Quo Vadis Gym – just 5 minutes from Buds Fitness HQ.

Why the change?
More sign ups than anticipated, plus many of those athletes asking about spectators. We needed more space to give this event the energy and experience it deserves 💥

What’s staying the same?
