🌟 “I’m pregnant… what now?!” 🌟

When I found out I was pregnant with my first, I did what I thought you were meant to do… I rang my GP.
And honestly? They were just as confused as I was about why I was calling them 😂

They told me to register my pregnancy online — which would have been great… if I could actually find the right link! I remember trawling the internet trying to figure out what on earth I was supposed to do next.

And I still see people posting on local Peterborough Facebook groups all the time asking the exact same thing: “I’m pregnant, what do I do now?”

So luckily for you, your friendly neighbourhood antenatal teacher has put everything in one easy place.

If you’ve recently found out you’re pregnant (or know someone who has), here’s my super simple guide to:
✨ registering your pregnancy in Peterborough
✨ what to expect in early pregnancy
✨ how and when midwife appointments happen
✨ scans, check-ins and who to contact if you’re worried
✨ and why booking good antenatal classes makes such a difference

Early pregnancy can feel like a whirlwind — this blog gives you the clear steps I wish I’d had!

✨ A Little Re-Introduction ✨

Hello lovely people! 👋💛
I thought I’d take a moment to re-introduce myself for anyone new here (and to say hi again to those who’ve been around a while!).

I’m Alice – a FEDANT-accredited antenatal and Hypnobirthing instructor and breastfeeding peer supporter. I’m passionate about helping parents feel informed, calm and confident as they prepare for birth, whatever their plans look like.

My classes are upbeat, evidence-based and realistic, with plenty of laughs and absolutely no judgement. Caesarean, epidural, homebirth, induction, VBAC — everyone is welcome here. 💛

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually with my girls — soaking up the cuddles, the chaos, the crafts and the snack negotiations. They’re the stars of many of the photos I share, and they occasionally pop up in my videos too… usually unplanned, always adorable.

What you’ll find on this page:
✨ Calm birth tools & hypnobirthing tips
✨ Realistic antenatal education
✨ Evidence-based breastfeeding support
✨ Honest, lighthearted posts about pregnancy, birth & parenting
✨ A regular dose of my very cheeky children

If you’re expecting in 2025, I’d love to support you — drop me a message or leave a “💛” below.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re pregnant — everyone seems to have advice, from birth stories to “must-have” gadgets.
Here’s the truth:
❌ You don’t need to know everything
🙏 You can say “thank you” and ignore advice that doesn’t serve you
😌 The best plan is the one that helps you feel calm and confident
🙅And yes — you can absolutely interrupt a negative birth story. Positive vibes only, please.

Doing an antenatal or hypnobirthing course with me can help you tune out the noise and focus on what really matters — understanding your body, your options, and your power.

I am poorly with tonsillitis, my husband has tonsillitis, my daughter has been sick, and we’re on full chicken pox watch for my other daughter. Honestly it feels like our house is running its own mini A&E at this point.

When my cold first started, I went to reach for the cold and flu tablets and had that split-second “wait… am I even allowed these?” panic before remembering I’m not pregnant or breastfeeding anymore. Old habits die hard.

And honestly, being unwell in pregnancy is a whole different level. You feel awful and you have to do detective work before you can even take anything. It’s like “congratulations, you have a cold… and a research project.”

If you’re pregnant and feeling rubbish, you’re definitely not alone, and you don’t have to guess your way through it. These trusted UK resources are brilliant starting points for checking what’s safe:

• Breastfeeding Network – Drugs in Pregnancy factsheets (Google that wording)
• NHS website (NHS.uk)

And of course, always chat to your GP, midwife or pharmacist if you’re unsure.

Sending love and virtual soup to anyone else being taken out by winter bugs. We will survive… eventually.

The tools you learn can help you:

These techniques stay with you long after your baby arrives — calm, confident parenting starts here.
