Thank you for such a well organised event.
It was great to be there representing Homewell Plus and to see so many people considering a career in care and support.
A really positive day for Plymouth.

Good to be at the Caring Plymouth Health and Social Care Careers Showcase today.

It has been a great opportunity to speak with people who are either starting out in care or looking to take the next step. There is a real sense that people want to do meaningful work and make a difference in their local community.

What stood out for me is how important it is that we continue to build a workforce that is not only skilled, but supported, valued, and given the opportunity to grow.

At Homewell Plus, we are focused on creating that environment. A place where care is delivered to a high standard, and where the people delivering it feel confident, respected, and part of something that genuinely matters.

I saw this email come through recently.

“Hi {FirstName}”

It made me pause for a second.

Not because it’s a big mistake.
But because it says a lot about how things are done behind the scenes.

We’re all busy.
We’re all trying to grow something.
But small details still matter.

Names matter.
People matter.
Taking a moment to get it right matters.

It was a good reminder for me as well.

Keep going.
Keep improving.
Keep your standards high, even when no one is watching.

That’s usually what makes the difference over time.

If you’re building something, you’re probably getting things wrong along the way too.

That’s part of it.

This morning reminded me why home visits matter.

I saw three very different people, all needing support in their own way.

One is a working professional who has been through a difficult experience. Work is what is keeping them going right now. Being able to receive physiotherapy at home means they can focus on that, without the added stress of travelling or waiting.

Another had support from the NHS initially, which made a real difference. But they reached a point where they wanted to progress further. That is where I stepped in to continue that journey.

And then a gentleman living with dementia. His wife has been doing everything she can, but it has been a lot. Small improvements in his mobility and routine can make a real difference, not just for him, but for her quality of life as well.

Different situations, but the same aim.

Helping people stay safe, independent, and supported at home.

Physiotherapy at home is not just about recovery.

It plays a key role in preventing hospital admissions and supporting people safely after discharge.

At Homewell Plus, we work with people who are:

Coming home from hospital and need support to rebuild strength and confidence
At risk of falls or declining mobility
Wanting to stay independent in their own home for as long as possible

The aim is not just to improve movement, but to reduce risk, prevent setbacks, and avoid unnecessary hospital stays.
