Valentine’s Day can be great or it can feel heavy 🥰💔

Whether you’re celebrating with your partner, missing someone, going through a breakup, or just feeling the pressure of it all… you’re not the only one. Days like today can stir up a lot more than we expect, especially when we’re used to keeping things in.

If you’re in a relationship, check in with each other.
If you’re single or recently split, be kind to yourself. It’s okay if today feels a bit rough.

Talk to someone you trust, get outside if you can, and remember, your worth isn’t measured by your relationship status.

Time to Talk 🕰️

For a lot of men, talking isn’t the hard part. It’s knowing when it’s okay to start…

💛 You don’t have to wait until things are at breaking point.
🖤 You don’t have to have the right words.
💛 You don’t have to carry it on your own.

Sometimes “talking” is just turning up. Sitting quietly. Having a brew. Listening or being listened to.

If something’s been weighing on you, this is your sign:
It’s time to talk.

At Man down - supporting men’s mental health, we’re here for real conversations, in a safe space, with no judgement and no pressure.

You’re not weak for opening up… you’re human.

You’re not alone. And you never have to be.

Man Down Devon is looking for men to become facilitators and help support others who may be struggling.

Many of the men who come to Man Down don’t need fixing, they need to be heard by someone who gets it.

If you’ve been through tough times yourself and come out the other side, your experience could help someone else feel less alone.

To become a facilitator, you should:
- Be male and over 25
- Have lived experience of mental health struggles
- Be in a stable place now and able to support others
- Be a good listener, empathetic and non-judgemental
- Be able to give around 2 hours every fortnight
- Be willing to complete training (fully supported by Man Down UK)

You don’t need qualifications.
You don’t need to have all the answers.
Just the willingness to show up and support other men.

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish someone had been there for me” … this could be your way of being that person for someone else.

👊 If this sounds like you, send us a message or find out more via the Man Down UK website (link is in the comments)

Have you noticed a change in someone lately? 🤔
Maybe they’re quieter than usual, cancelling plans, not replying like they used to, or just seem a bit different.

It’s easy to tell ourselves they’re just busy, or that someone else will check in… But often, a simple message can mean more than we realise.

You don’t need the perfect words.
You don’t need to fix anything.
Just a “Hey, I’ve been thinking about you, how are you really?” can be enough to remind someone they’re not alone.

If someone came to mind while reading this, take it as your sign to reach out today.

And if this resonates, please react or share this post… you never know who might see it at the right moment 💛🖤

Sometimes, checking in really does save lives.

Let’s talk about it!
