Such a great day yesterday at x Farm Classic.

Bit of FOMO not being able to compete this time, but it was brilliant to watch and cheer on so many friends and clients taking part.

The atmosphere was unreal - such a good community event.

Huge well done to everyone who took part, and to the winners who’ve bagged themselves a treatment each with 👏

It’s never just about easing the pain

For this client, we worked on both the back and legs - not just to get rid of the discomfort, but to actually understand where it was coming from.

We talked through recovery.
Simple exercises to build strength.
How to manage things between treatments so the results last longer.

That’s always my goal - not just a quick fix, but helping you feel confident looking after your body outside the treatment room too.

👉 If you’ve been putting up with back or leg pain for too long, drop me a message and I’ll send you my availability.

5 small things that make a big difference to recovery

Everyone’s looking for the big fix, but honestly?
It’s the small, boring stuff that adds up.

Here are 5 simple things that make recovery easier:
1. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep (your body heals when you rest)
2. Drinking enough water - sounds basic, but muscles need hydration to move properly
3. Taking rest days that actually count as rest
4. Moving outside your normal routine - a walk, swim, or mobility session does more than you think
5. Staying consistent with the stuff that works - not just doing it when you’re sore

None of it’s flashy, but that’s how progress usually happens.

👉 What’s one thing on that list you know you should do more of?

Life between clients this week
1. Captain flappy ears
2. Sunset walks to the pub
3. Dog on a log
4. Amazing pumpkin carved by (can confirm I have neither the skill nor patience to carve this!)

Also booked myself on a course in the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled for new offerings! 💆‍♀️

A lot of people feel nervous before their first treatment

Totally normal.
Especially if you’ve never had sports therapy before and you’re not sure what to expect.

That’s why I keep things simple.
Friendly conversation first.
Clear plan second.
Treatment that actually makes sense for you.

No awkward stuff. No pressure. No jargon.
Just proper care.

If you feel unsure before coming in, that’s okay. Most people do.
But by the end of the session, you’ll always know you’re in safe hands.

👉 If you’ve been thinking about booking but you’re a bit nervous, message me and I’ll talk you through it.

When you start avoiding things you used to love

That’s usually when you know pain’s gone too far.

You tell yourself you’ll run again when your knee feels better.
Or lift again once your shoulder settles.
Or book that long walk when your back “loosens up.”

But weeks turn into months.
And before you know it, you’ve built your life around what hurts - not what makes you feel good.

Pain doesn’t just stop you moving.
It chips away at your confidence.
Makes you second-guess your body.

That’s the bit I care about - helping people get back to doing the things that make them feel like themselves again.

👉 If that sounds familiar, drop me a message and let’s change it.

If you’ve ever had tight calves after running - this is for you

You finish your run, and your calves are in bits.
Tight, sore, like you’ve done 1000 skips.

But here’s the thing - it’s not just a “running thing.”
It’s a you’re compensating somewhere else thing.

Most runners blame the calf because it hurts.
But often, it’s weak glutes, poor ankle mobility, or tight hips doing the damage.

Your calf is just taking the load.

So yes - massage can help.
But the long-term fix?
Strength, mobility, and making sure the right muscles are actually doing their job.

Because it’s not normal to hobble every time you’ve gone for a jog.

Calf pain after running?
It’s fixable.

Feeling comfortable matters just as much as feeling better

This client came to see me for the first time and, like a lot of people, wasn’t totally sure what to expect.

Before we got started, we talked through what had been bothering her and why it was happening. I always explain what I’m doing and the reason behind it - because when you actually understand what’s going on in your body, it feels a lot less stressful.

Treatment shouldn’t feel rushed or confusing.
You should feel heard.
You should feel relaxed.
And you should walk out feeling better than when you came in.

👉 If you’re nervous about booking your first session, drop me a message - I’ll talk you through it.

“I’m not sure if I really need it.”

Most people book in once the pain gets bad enough.
But that’s a bit like waiting until your tyre’s flat before you check the air.

If you’re feeling tight, sore, or restricted - that’s your body’s early warning.
And dealing with it now saves you from bigger problems later.

Soft tissue therapy isn’t just for when something’s gone wrong.
It’s for keeping things right.

👉 Message “INFO” if you’ve been putting it off because you’re not sure if it’s ‘bad enough.’

Why that ‘tight knot’ in your back probably isn’t what you think

A lot of people in East Devon come to me saying,
“Can you get rid of these knots in my shoulder blades?”

But here’s the truth.
That pain between your shoulder blades? It’s usually not because of knots.

It’s because your pecs and sometimes biceps are tight, pulling you forward. Which means your rhomboids and traps are being stretched. And that “tight” feeling is really those muscles crying out for balance.

Massage helps ease the discomfort. But the real fix?

Strengthening the muscles that are lengthened and giving the shortened ones a chance to release.

So next time you feel that ache, don’t just blame knots. Think posture, balance, and what’s really going on underneath.

👉 If this sounds like you, drop a message - we’ll figure out how to get you feeling better.
