3 signs you need more than “just a massage”

Be honest… does this sound like you?

You feel better for a day or two…
then it comes back.

You keep getting the same issue in the same spot.

You’ve had a few treatments… but nothing sticks.

That’s usually a sign it’s not just a tissue issue.

It’s how you move.
How you load your body.
What you do day to day.

Massage helps.
But it’s only part of it.

That’s why I combine soft tissue work with simple rehab that fits your routine.

So it actually lasts.

👉 If this sounds like you, drop me a DM to book in and see how treatment could work for you.

“Always go for sports massage… but curious about hot stones?”

That’s exactly what this client did.

Usually books in for sports massage.
This time… tried hot stones instead.

And straight away -
“I’ll definitely be having another one.”

Different feel.
Same goal.

We still work into the tissue.
Still targeting tight areas.
But the heat helps everything relax quicker.

Perfect if you want results
But also want to switch off a bit more.

If you’re around Exeter or Poltimore and always go for the same treatment…

Maybe it’s time to try something different.

Message me to book in or check availability.

“I can’t take time off training.”

You don’t have to.

I’m a big believer in keeping active people, active.
If you’ve got a ni**le, we look at ways to train around it - safely.

Because stopping completely can sometimes set you back more than the injury itself.

You can still move. You can still train.
You just need to be smart about how.

👉 Message “INFO” if you’ve been avoiding treatment because you’re scared it’ll mean time off.

5 signs your “tight muscles” are actually just tired.

Tight doesn’t always mean short.
And it definitely doesn’t always mean stretch it more.

Here’s what I see a lot in Poltimore and Exeter clients:
1️⃣ Muscles that feel heavy, not sharp
2️⃣ Tightness after training, not during
3️⃣ Relief when someone else takes over (massage helps)
4️⃣ Stiffness worse at the end of the day
5️⃣ That “I just feel worn out” feeling

That’s fatigue.
Not flexibility.

If you keep stretching tired tissue, it fights back.
What it needs is recovery.
Better load management.
And sometimes… hands-on help.

👉 If this sounds familiar, drop me a message and we’ll sort it properly.

That’s exactly how this client described it.

From the start, they felt in good hands.
Clear understanding of what was going on.
A proper conversation, not just straight onto the table.

Then the treatment.

Targeted work to help recovery from running.
Not just a general massage…
But something that actually matched what their body needed.

Because if you run, you’ll know.
It’s not just about tight calves.
It’s how everything’s working together.

And when that’s right, running feels easier again.
If you’re training, building mileage, or just feeling the effects of it in your body…

Message me and let’s get you booked in.

If you only deal with pain when it stops you training, this will help

Most people don’t book in when something first feels off.
They wait.

Until running hurts.
Until lifting feels sketchy.
Until work becomes uncomfortable.

By then, it’s louder.
More stubborn.
And takes longer to calm down.

The clients who recover quickest?
They come in early.

When it’s a ni**le.
When it’s just “not quite right.”
Before their body has to shout.

You don’t need to be broken to book in.
You just need to want to keep moving well.

👉 If something’s been niggling and you’re ignoring it, message me and let’s deal with it before it becomes a problem.

“I’ll just stretch it.”

If stretching it actually fixed it… it would be fixed by now.

How long have you been stretching that hamstring?
That hip?
That shoulder?

Be honest.

If a muscle feels tight, it’s not always short.
Sometimes it’s working overtime.
Sometimes it’s protecting something.

Stretching a muscle that’s already overloaded?
That’s not the answer.

In clinic, I look at why it’s tight in the first place.
Load.
Running volume.
Gym programming.
Desk posture.

Different problem. Different solution.

👉 Message “INFO” for information.

Don’t stretch your back if you want it to stop hurting

Sounds backwards, I know.
But hear me out.

A lot of lower back pain isn’t because your back is “tight.”
It’s because something else isn’t doing its job.

Hips not moving well.
Glutes not firing.
Core switched off after hours of sitting.

So you stretch your back.
It feels better for an hour.
Then it’s back again.

That’s not failure.
That’s missing the cause.

Sometimes the fix isn’t more stretching.
It’s strengthening the right areas and taking the pressure off your back.

👉 If your back pain keeps returning, message me and we’ll figure out why.

20 miles.
3,000 ft elevation.
Off-road.
Muddy.

The yesterday was a tough but fun one.

Pretty happy to sneak in under 4 hours, especially considering I couldn’t run six weeks ago. Funny how quickly things can turn around when the body starts cooperating again.

Today is a very quiet day.
Feet up.
Recovery mode.

Because tomorrow it’s straight back into clinic… although I’ll admit my legs are feeling it today.

Sometimes the therapist needs a recovery day too.

Swipe to see the fireman with an evil smile hosing me down.

“Ever had a migraine that just won’t shift?”

She messaged needing help at crazy short notice.
Ongoing migraine.
Neck like concrete.
Shoulders up round her ears.

We focused on back, neck and shoulders.
Proper soft tissue work.
Not just a quick rub over.
She said she felt like she’d been exorcised.
Came home.
Felt a bit washed out.
Then slept for hours.
Woke up with no pain.

That’s what happens when you actually address the tension patterns driving it. Upper traps, suboccipitals, thoracic stiffness. The stuff that builds up quietly over time.

If you’re local to Poltimore or the outskirts of Exeter and you’re battling regular headaches or migraines…
Don’t just keep pushing through.

Message me and let’s get you booked in.
