I often get asked: "what is the difference between BABCP accredited or not for a therapist in the U.K":
We are subject to random audits of our ethical and clinical practice. This includes a declaration that we commit to continued professional development through training throughout the year, a minimum of 3 trainings. Our clinical practice has been assessed with minimum experience and qualifications, including references from others to support our evidence. We have an obligation to be insured to practice as well as attending monthly supervision to support us in supporting you. We pay for this monitoring, supervision and the trainings we engage with so you might find accredited therapist have higher session rates than non accredited (not always)
Above is one example on how we progress our skills. Learning specific skills in supporting those with long term physical health conditions can be essential in our role.
