πŸ“Œ Welcome to Rescue Aid Ambulance Service (R.A.A.S.)

Rescue Aid Ambulance Service (R.A.A.S.) is a community-focused, not-for-profit medical response initiative dedicated to improving safety, visibility, and wellbeing within our local area.

We exist to support our community, working alongside β€” not in place of β€” existing emergency services.

πŸš‘ What we do

β€’ Provide visible medical presence in town centres and at community events
β€’ Deliver emergency first response and first aid support
β€’ Develop harm reduction initiatives to help those affected by substance misuse
β€’ Promote early intervention, reassurance, and appropriate escalation
β€’ Support safer public spaces through calm, professional medical engagement

Our responders are trained, insured, and governed by clear clinical, safeguarding, and operational standards.

🀝 Why follow us?

By following R.A.A.S., you help:
β€’ Increase visibility of community medical support
β€’ Strengthen local safety and resilience
β€’ Support volunteers giving their time to help others
β€’ Stay informed about training, patrols, and community initiatives

Every follow helps us reach someone who may need help one day.

πŸ’™ Our values

β€’ Compassion
β€’ Professionalism
β€’ Accountability
β€’ Community trust
β€’ Safety-first practice

We believe medical support should be approachable, visible, and rooted in respect.

If you share our values and believe in safer communities, we’d be grateful for your support through a follow or share.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

πŸŽ†πŸ₯‚ New Year, Celebrate Smart πŸ₯‚πŸŽ†

New Year’s Eve is all about fresh starts, big celebrations, and seeing the year out with friends β€” and we want everyone to get home safely.

As you ring in the New Year, here are a few simple tips from R.A.A.S. to help keep the night fun and safe:

✨ Set the tone early – Know your plan for the evening, including how you’ll get home.
πŸ’§ Hydrate regularly – Alcohol dehydrates you quickly; water breaks make a real difference.
🍽️ Don’t drink on an empty stomach – Eating helps your body cope better with alcohol.
πŸ‘₯ Stay connected – Keep an eye on friends and make sure no one is left behind.
⏱️ Slow it down – Spacing out drinks helps avoid accidents and medical issues later on.
πŸ§₯ Wrap up warm – Late nights + alcohol + cold weather don’t mix well.
πŸš‘ Get help sooner rather than later – If someone is vomiting repeatedly, confused, or collapses, seek medical help immediately.

Let’s make sure the only thing you wake up with on New Year’s Day is a fresh start β€” not a trip to A&E.

From everyone at Rescue Aid Ambulance Service, we wish you a safe, positive, and healthy New Year πŸ’™

πŸ’š Help Us Bring Emergency Care Closer to Our Community πŸš‘

As we continue building Rescue Aid Ambulance Service (R.A.A.S.), we’re now looking for support to take the next big step: securing a small office or workspace in the centre of Poole.

Having a base would allow us to:
β€’ Safely store and maintain our medical kit and equipment
β€’ Run an operations and dispatch centre
β€’ Train and brief our volunteers
β€’ Be ready to respond quickly, 24/7, when our community needs us

As a community-interest, non-profit organisation, funding is always a challenge β€” but we believe in working together.

How sponsorship could work....
We understand that not everyone can offer financial support, but there may be ways to support us in kind, such as:
β€’ Donating or sponsoring office or storage space
β€’ Offering reduced-rate or unused workspace
β€’ Supporting utilities or facilities as part of a community partnership

How we can give back....
While we can’t β€œpay” in the traditional sense, we can offer meaningful value in return, including:
β€’ Free or reduced price first aid cover for community or business events
β€’ First aid training or awareness sessions for staff
β€’ Recognition as a Community Safety Partner
β€’ Positive community visibility through our work and outreach
β€’ Knowing you’re directly supporting emergency care for local people

If you’re a local business, organisation, landlord, or community partner β€” or if you know someone who might be able to help β€” we’d love to have a conversation. Even advice or introductions would mean a lot.

πŸ“§ Get in touch: info@raasems.co.uk

Together, we can make compassionate, rapid emergency care more accessible for Poole and beyond.

πŸŽ„πŸΎ Staying Safe While Celebrating This Christmas πŸΎπŸŽ„

Christmas is a time to celebrate, catch up with friends, and enjoy a few festive drinks β€” but a little planning can go a long way in keeping everyone safe.

Here are some simple tips from R.A.A.S. to help you enjoy the festivities responsibly:

βœ”οΈ Eat before you drink – Food slows alcohol absorption and helps reduce the risk of feeling unwell.
βœ”οΈ Pace yourself – Take breaks between drinks and alternate with water or soft drinks.
βœ”οΈ Look after each other – Stick together, check in on friends, and don’t let anyone wander off alone.
βœ”οΈ Know your limits – Everyone’s tolerance is different. There’s no pressure to keep up with others.
βœ”οΈ Plan your journey home – Arrange a lift, taxi, or public transport in advance. Never drink and drive.
βœ”οΈ Dress for the weather – Cold temperatures increase the risk of hypothermia, especially after drinking.
βœ”οΈ Get help early – If someone becomes unwell, confused, or collapses, seek medical help immediately.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and ask for help β€” it could make all the difference.

From all of us at Rescue Aid Ambulance Service, we wish you a safe, happy, and enjoyable Christmas πŸŽ…πŸ’™

πŸš‘ An Update from R.A.A.S. – Moving Forward πŸš‘

We’re pleased to share that we are well underway with our plans to get R.A.A.S. Emergency Responders out and active in the community.

To ensure we are operating correctly and transparently, we contacted the Care Quality Commission (CQC) directly to confirm our regulatory position. Following this communication, we were advised that as an organisation established to provide first aid and emergency support, we are not required to register with the CQC. This confirmation allows us to move forward confidently while maintaining high standards of safety, governance, and accountability.

Over the coming months, you’ll begin to see our teams out and about in the community, supporting events and public spaces as we continue to develop our operational capability.

We’re also proud to share that one of our team members is currently undertaking the Level 3 Award in Education & Training, supplied by CTC Training. This is a key step in building our internal training capacity and will enable us to begin offering first aid training services to the community by summer.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far β€” volunteers, partners, donors, and the wider community. We’re committed to delivering safe, professional, and compassionate care in our community. We'll be back soon with more exciting updates!

πŸ•ŠοΈ Remembrance Day
At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month β€” we remember.

We pause to honour all who have served, and all who still serve, with courage, compassion, and selflessness.
Their legacy lives on in the communities they protected and the lives they touched.

We will remember them.
