Today we were proud to welcome members of the local community to celebrate the grand opening of our new flagship home care service in Dorchester.

For almost four decades, Agincare has been delivering person-centred care and support across Dorchester and the surrounding areas. This new location marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we continue to strengthen our commitment to the community.

Located on the main road into Poundbury, our new Dorchester office will serve as a central hub for delivering high-quality home care services locally.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from Dorset Council, Dorchester Town Council, The Winterbourne Hospital, and the Duchy of Cornwall Estate to mark the occasion.

A special thank you to Cllr Andy Canning, Mayor of Dorchester, and Mayoress Mel Lane for cutting the ribbon alongside Agincare Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst, Group CEO Raina Summerson, and Sam Mayes, Managing Director of Home Care and Live-in Care.

It was also fantastic to see our Recruitment team speaking with a host of visitors interested in exploring a rewarding career in care, highlighting the many opportunities available to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone.

🌟 Celebrating 115 years of International Women’s Day at Agincare 🌟

In 2026, International Women’s Day marks an incredible milestone – 115 years of collective action, advocacy, and progress toward gender equality.

International Women’s Day therefore remains not just a celebration, but a powerful call to action for organisations, communities, and individuals around the world.

At Agincare, we are proud that many of our Senior Leadership Team are women, and that many of them began their journey in care through practical, hands-on experience. Their leadership reflects the dedication, compassion and expertise that exists across the social care sector.

Every day, women across our organisation play a vital role in supporting communities, delivering compassionate care, and helping shape the future of social care.

As we mark 115 years of International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements, dedication, and impact of the many women who make a difference across Agincare and the wider care sector.

💜 To all the women across Agincare: thank you for everything you do.

We would like to share a meaningful addition to Fulford Care and Nursing Home in Littlehampton.

The home has recently been gifted a new defibrillator machine, along with the cabinet that it will be placed in.

This donation is especially significant to us. The defibrillator was generously gifted to the home by the wife of a gentleman who we had the privilege of caring for at Fulford.

After his passing, she chose to make this donation as a way of expressing her gratitude for the care provided, not only to her husband, but also for the support shown to their family during their time with us, having travelled over from the USA.

We are deeply grateful for this thoughtful and generous gesture. It is a lasting tribute to her husband and a gift that will help others for years to come.

We’re delighted to announce Lewis Miller, Team Leader at Peppercorn House Extra Care service, as our Overall Employee of the Month! 🎉

Nominated by both residents and the care team, Lewis was recognised for the calm, steady leadership he brings every day. He consistently supports residents with compassion and respect, and he is always ready to step in to help the team when needed.

Lewis was also commended for staying composed under pressure during a recent medical emergency. His decisive and professional actions helped ensure a resident received the support they needed quickly, while also providing reassurance to those around him.

This week is National Apprenticeship Week, a chance to celebrate the difference apprenticeships make for people, organisations, and the wider economy.

Agincare Training, our expert in-house platform, support our teams to develop their skills and talents to achieve their goals.

Over the coming days, we will be sharing real stories that show the impact of apprenticeships in action.

First up is Kelsey from our Badminton Gardens Extra Care scheme in Bristol, who completed her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship in July.

Describing her apprenticeship experience, Kelsey said:

“My apprenticeship has really helped me find my feet in my new role. I am now much more confident about the administrative side of my work.

To be able to complete my training during my regular hours has been a real help to me and it did not disrupt my routine.”
