Ickle Pickles Coffee & a Catch Up is run by our Events Project Manager, Fundraiser and Peer Support team member and ex NICU mum Lorraine Blackburn.

The SECOND Wednesday of every month we hold our very own Coffee & a Catch Up at Nelson Messy Play Room, Paulsgrove Family Hub, Cheltenham Road, PO6 3PL
No need to prebook, just turn up on the day between 10am-12pm. We aim to encourage mums and dads that have had babies that received care in the local Neonatal Units hospital to come along and get to know other parents that have been through the same, if not a similar situation. We offer an understanding ear and understand the anxious feeling some parents get from leaving the 'nest' and 'home' that is a Neonatal Unit. Please be assured that the parents that come to the 'Coffee & a Catch Up' group are open, friendly and very welcoming. Lorraine works for the children's charity Ickle Pickles and is the Events Project Manager and Fundraiser and Peer Support member of the team. She is always at the 'Coffee & a Catch Up' group and is there to offer support and guidance to any parents that may wish to get involved with fundraising as well as an ear to listen whilst you are there. As a charity we have lots of events on the go throughout the year. Many parents feel they need to 'give something back' to the hospital that cared for your child. This is where Lorraine comes in. Introducing Ollie and his story:

Wheels of Hope - a unique Charity Challenge
On November 15th and 16th, Ollie will embark on a 24-hour charity challenge. He plans to push a specially adapted buggy with an incubator for 24 hours straight, travelling from Poole Hospital to Southampton Hospital and back to Bournemouth — a total of 106 kilometres. The number 24 represents the weeks at which Percy was born, and the journey symbolises the early path he took in life.

Imagine a heart, engraved with your baby's name, accompanying me for an inspiring 24-hour incubator push. Each heart symbolises a unique neonatal journey — a powerful testament to the numerous paths of hope and resilience.

Be Part of the Finale
For those who can join us in person, we invite you to the grand finale at Kings Park, Bournemouth, on November 16th, around 10am. Here, you can personally collect your heart and be part of this heartfelt charity event.

A Moment to Give Back
Before the challenge begins, all the hearts will be photographed together alongside the incubator, creating a collage of hearts and individual stories. Join us in celebrating these incredible journeys and saying thanks to the community that supports them.

Sadly our group will not be running over the Summer holidays (Wednesday 13th August) as the venue is unable to accommodate us over the holiday period.
