Welcome April ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Have you felt the new seasonal shifts recently? Home here in the Welsh hills we have had every weather recently from hail to snow, spring storms to rain and blissful, beautiful spring sunshine and warmth.

These fluctuations in nature can feel quite unsettling and can affect our energy and mood.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine we are in the season of the wood element and the energy around us is rising. I confess, I love hugging trees and being around them - it feels calming, grounding and uplifting at the same time. Grounding and connection to earth is a great practice to do when things are unsettling to bring you into balance.

The amazing places I get to teach ๐Ÿ˜

Friday evening was so very special ๐Ÿ’•

I hosted my first saunarauha event at in Bala by the shores of Llyn Tegid. It means a lot to me to be able to share my heritage and culture combined with my passion for yoga and relaxation.

We had a beautiful break in the weather when we arrived and gathered around the fire to drink tea, eat Finnish cake and learn about the concept of saunarauha.

After grounding, we enjoyed a peaceful, silent sauna session where we immersed in the moment and a good lรถyly (and cold plunge in between for some!)

Just as the weather started to turn, we moved indoors for a grounding restorative yoga and yoga nidra session.

Thank you to everyone who came and for Niku Naku for being amazing hosts as always ๐Ÿฅฐ

Next one takes place on Friday 24th April 16:00-19:00. Each session is strictly limited to 8 spaces. Grab yours at www.anjayoga.co.uk/sauna

A warm welcome to all new followers to my account where I share all things seasonal wellbeing. I love living in harmony with nature's rhythms and share this connectivity to nature in my classes, workshops and events.

Congratulations to my homeland, Finland, for receiving the happiest country in the world title for the 9th time in a row!

Here are my top 5 reasons why. It was a real toss up between 1 and 2..... IYKYK

There are many more reasons, but these things win for me:

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Honesty - Finns are inherently honest and I love this trait. You can trust a Finn and nobody is trying to 'get you'

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Space - there's heaps of it. For this introvert, it is heaven. Having so much space around for solitude but also the option to socialise is the best balance

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Trees - I'm definitely a dendrophile and adore being around trees. Not only are they comforting and supporting, they also emit healthy chemicals. I love breathing with the trees.

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Sauna - there is nothing better than a real Finnish wood fired sauna. My dad's sauna is of course the best, but a close second is here in Cymru ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Pulla - pulla is an icon in Finnish baking. It's not just a roll of cinnamon and cardamom yummyness, it is a ritual. Kahvipulla is a term used for having coffee with pulla, a break to pause and to connect.

I baked pulla today to celebrate Finnish happiness and it really made me so content! Lucky students tomorrow and over the weekend who get to enjoy the taste of Finland.

If you want to learn more about Finnish culture, I share wisdom from my heritage during my sessions with in Bala. Next one is saunarauha on Friday 27th March, during which you'll learn about the essence of Finnish sauna culture - sauna peace. More information here www.anjayoga.co.uk/sauna (link in bio)

This Saturday, we celebrate Spring Equinox at with a very special session surrounded by glorious nature.

The turning of the wheel offers a moment to pause and to reflect and set intentions for the next 6 week cycle.

During the session we:
๐Ÿ’š gather around a fire to pause
๐Ÿ’š move in nature surrounded by the sounds, scents and sights of spring
๐Ÿ’š connect with ourselves and like minded people
๐Ÿ’š honour the seasonal energy
๐Ÿ’š set gentle intentions for the season
๐Ÿ’š and most importantly, eat seasonal cake

๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ there is also an option to take a dip in the river and warm up in the on site sauna afterwards (extra cost)

Come alone or with friends, these sessions are welcoming and offer plenty of options. Most of the movement is done in chairs and standing.

Experience Finnish culture in Wales ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ

Sauna is one of the most important weekly rituals in my culture and I grew up going to the sauna in our home several times a week. This is something I missed a lot since living in the UK as it is not just about being in a warm room, it is so wonderful for physical and mental wellbeing. It is a reflective place of peace and healing.

I have recently found a Finnish sauna not far from my home here in North Wales. It's been absolutely amazing for my overall wellbeing. And now you can join me for a session which combines movement, seasonal wellbeing, Finnish culture and sauna (and maybe a dip in the lake).

My first session takes place on Saturday 14th March 09:00-11:30 and I have a few spaces left!
