How My Yoga Journey Began...
My introduction to yoga was in 1980 and at my first class the Teacher was explaining how important it was to take time out for yourself. She explained that when you give to others, it can deplete your energy reserves, so...like sharing tea with someone, you can only offer them more tea if there is tea left in the teapot! If there is no tea left, then you will need to refill the kettle, wait until it boils, fill the teapot up, then wait for it to be ready for serving. If you serve the tea too quickly it will be weak and equally, if you wait too long, it will be come too strong...
I had always been brought up to give to others, but not to myself. This first yoga class totally changed my way of thinking about the importance of balance and I wanted to share this wonderful information to help others feel that it is ok to look after yourself too!! A big cheers to that special Teacher all those years ago...
