The skin on your feet can get really rough, and itβs usually the kids or a significant other who spot it! Or that moment we decide to get our feet out for those summer shoes. π
That rough and hard skin we normally cause callus, and while most of the time itβs cosmetic, it can become a problem. π£
Sometimes it forms because of medical conditions such as psoriasis, because the skin turnover and production is quicker. π§¬
But on the whole, callus forms in response to load changes on the epidermis (outer most skin layer).
And is seen as thicker areas of skin. Sometimes a bit yellowish in colour.
There are things that you can do to help. β
Filing and moisturising with a great urea based cream works wonders. β
Footwear that helps to support the heel fat pad, and reduces load during activity. β
Oh, and seeing a professional if you need some extra attention.
Callus generally doesnβt cause an issue, but when the pressure gets too great, sometimes it can lead to problems if you have a loss of sensation or poor circulation.
If in doubt - get it checked out! Contact me for further information, where I we will create a bespoke treatment plan based on your symptoms. β
