✏️ Let’s Talk Phonics: What Is Blending?
From my 12+ years of teaching experience, I know that one of the most common questions families have about early reading is… what exactly is blending?
👉 Blending is the skill children use to push sounds together to read a word.
For example, they see c – a – t, say each sound slowly, then blend them together to read cat.
It might sound simple, but blending takes lots of practice and careful listening — it’s the bridge between knowing letter sounds and becoming a confident reader.
💡 Top tip: When your child sounds out words at home, give them time to say each sound clearly, then encourage them to “say it fast” to hear the whole word.
Building this skill step by step gives children the confidence and fluency they need to unlock the magic of reading. 📚✨

With over 20 years experience, specialising in baby footprints, Flying Colours Pottery have experience of working with babies and tired parents so rest assured that you will receive a welcoming smile and friendly approach!

There is an initial fee of £5.00 to have your pottery glazed and fired and then you add your chosen pottery to that fee, as much or as little as you’d like!
Pottery prices start from just £8.00 as well as popular Christmas decorations that cost £15.50🎄
