I still get such a buzz seeing these little stacks of cards heading off to new homes. Every single box represents conversations, lightbulb moments, and parents-to-be sitting together — learning, reflecting, and finding confidence in birth.

Every hypnobirthing course is different. Some use down breathing, some count seconds, some are mostly scripts and some are very factual. So it’s super important to find the right course for you!

🎉 Birth Snacks 🎉

Now this is a very important topic, am I right? I think it’s fair to say that most people spend a lot of their birth prep energy imagining their birth snacks.

Whilst many people come out the other side of birth not having eaten much of their snack stash (or maybe their birth partner ate loads more than they did ), I do still think it is a topic worth thinking over.

Ketosis is a common occurrence in birth. It is caused by physical stress and compounded by reduced food intake, it is detected by testing the mother’s urine and can be a sign that your body is running low on reserves.

Note: There is actually not clear whether ketosis during labour is a normal physiological response, or if women with ketosis in labour require intervention. However, we do know that labour and birth is a strenuous event on the body that burns a lot of fuel... enter the SNACK bag!

Fuel your body from the very early stages of labour with carb-rich, slow energy release foods and keep that snack bag stocked with those too. eg. Flapjack, Porridge bars/pots, honey samples plus things like fruits and sweets for a quick energy burst. And add a sports drink in there for the win. 👌
