Sport in Mind

We are SPORT IN MIND ® - the UK mental health charity that uses sport and physical activity to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental health problems.

16/02/2026

We’re proud to offer over 20 different types of sports and physical activities across our programmes. Because movement should be joyful, accessible, and tailored to every person who walks through our doors.

Take our equestrian sessions: they’re not just about riding. They’re about connection, confidence, and the simple therapeutic act of caring for the horses. Every activity plays a part in supporting mental health.

All types of movement make a difference. And everyone deserves the chance to find the one that feels right for them.

Sport in Mind and Play Their Way are proud to launch the Journey Journal: a brand‑new resource created to help coaches support young people’s mental health through the power of sport.

Across grassroots clubs, coaches play a huge role in shaping young lives. They’re often the first to notice when a child is struggling, and with the right tools, they can open up conversations that truly matter.

The Journey Journal gives coaches a simple, practical way to help young people set goals, reflect on how they’re feeling, and understand the positive connection between movement and their mental wellbeing.

By bringing together Sport in Mind’s mental‑health expertise and Play Their Way’s child-first coaching approach, we’re strengthening support for communities across the country.

Because when young people learn early on how physical activity can boost their mood and confidence, it can change the direction of their whole journey.
