The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint and allow it to move ⚙️

Injuries can be caused by acute trauma, such as a fall, or by overuse, which leads to gradual wear and tear or tendinopathy. A tear can also develop over time as part of the natural aging process 👨‍🦳

The rotator cuff is one of the most common injuries at the shoulder. He’s an exercise you can use to strengthen it in the early stages of rehab. Save this post because you never know when you might need it. And share it with someone who does ✅

Every wondered what it looks like when a trigger point finally let’s go? Look closely to see the release. THIS TRIGGER POINT HAD CAUSED HIM PAIN FOR YEARS!!

The flicking you see is where the pressure causing the taut tight restriction in the fascia to release 💥

These trigger points restrict blood flow, leading to lack of oxygen. This causes the release of inflammatory mediators and neurotransmitters that sensitize local nerve endings (nociceptors), causing pain and tenderness.

Where does cupping come from?

Cupping comes from ancient traditional Chinese medicine, where healers used hollowed animal horns or bamboo cups to create suction on the skin. The idea was to balance the body’s energy, or qi, and pull out toxins or stagnant blood. The practice spread to Egypt, Greece, and the Middle East, with records dating back over 3,000 years. 🗿

The science we know now ?

Cupping creates negative pressure, which pulls blood vessels close to the skin’s surface, increasing blood flow and releasing tight muscles. The suction causes small blood vessels to break 🩸

Studies suggest it may help with pain, like lower back or neck issues, by stimulating nerves and reducing inflammation. it helps to boosts relaxation and helps detox the body 💮

Have you ever had pain in your Achilles tendon? 🏃

Achilles pain in runners often starts as a small acute strain. usually from a spike in load / speed / hills / change of surface.

This is where the tendon is irritated but still in an acute stage. If you do the right things when your issue is acute, the chances of chronic issues and much less ⬇️

If you ignore it and you keep running through it, it can progress into full tendinopathy. This is where the tendon structure begins to change and symptoms become chronic and stiff. ‼️

Early recognition and early treatment means faster recovery, less time off running, and less chance it becomes a long-term chronic issue ✅

3 exercises to strengthen the rotator cuff muscles.

The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles. Its job is to provide stability and smooth movement to the shoulder.

Due to the shoulder being the most mobile joint in the body. We can develop issues in our rotator cuff because of too much movement and repetitive strain.

Commonly our rotator cuff tendon becomes torn due to the repetitive strain which causes inflammation in the tendon and surrounding soft tissue.

These exercises can help target the rotator cuff and surrounding muscles to help strengthen stabilise and support the shoulder.

These exercises can be done for injury prevention as well as rehab treatment. Keeping these muscles strong is important for overall health of our shoulder and helps keep injuries at bay.
