What is Creative Therapy?

It’s not about creating perfect art. It’s about using creative expression to explore, heal, and understand ourselves better. Creativity becomes a mirror for what’s inside us, helping us see, feel, and grow with more clarity and compassion.

Everyone can use Creative Therapy in their daily life, through journaling, mindful colouring, vision boards, or even expressive movement. It’s about tuning in, not performing, creating, not judging. Healing, not hiding.

Stress is more than just “feeling overwhelmed.” It is the body’s natural reaction to challenges and perceived threats.

While short bursts of stress can help us survive and adapt, chronic stress can silently damage both physical and mental health. Understanding stress—its causes, symptoms, and long-term effects—can help us take control of our wellbeing.

This new eBook also provides art-based exercises designed to support relaxation, encourage self-expression, and restore balance.

✨ Harnessing Creativity for Neurodiverse Minds: Holistic Art Therapy & Neurodiversity ✨

Our world often measures success by productivity and speed, many individuals with ADHD and Autism face unique challenges yet also bring extraordinary strengths. Holistic Art Therapy is emerging as a powerful bridge between expression, regulation, and growth for neurodiverse individuals. 🎨🧠

Here’s why it works:
🌱 Non-verbal Expression – Art provides a safe space to communicate complex emotions and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
🌱 Emotional Regulation – Creative processes can reduce anxiety, calm the nervous system, and foster mindfulness.
🌱 Sensory Integration – Engaging with textures, colors, and movement supports sensory processing in a gentle, adaptive way.
🌱 Boosting Focus & Confidence – The structured-yet-flexible nature of art activities nurtures attention, persistence, and a sense of accomplishment.
🌱 Whole-Person Support – Holistic approaches consider the individual’s mind, body, and spirit, promoting resilience and self-awareness beyond symptom management.

The beauty of Holistic Art Therapy is that it doesn’t seek to "fix" neurodiversity — it celebrates individuality while offering practical tools to navigate daily life with greater ease and self-compassion.

As we continue to explore inclusive therapies, it’s worth asking: how can we create more spaces where creativity becomes a catalyst for well-being and belonging?

💡 Have you seen the power of art in supporting neurodiverse individuals? I’d love to hear your insights.

The Drama Triangle support techniques: For Individuals in the Persecutor Role

Goal: Express needs clearly without attacking or blaming

1. “I” Statements Practice
Teach how to express feelings and needs using non-blaming language:
“I feel frustrated when…” instead of “You always…”

2. Body-Based Awareness
Explore what happens in the body when anger arises (e.g., tight fists, clenched jaw).
Use grounding or movement to pause and choose a different response.

3. Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
Introduce the 4-step model:
Observation → Feeling → Need → Request.
Role-play using real scenarios to practice assertiveness with empathy.

Techniques for each Drama Triangle role to support transformation into healthier relational PATTERNS.

For Individuals in the Victim Role

Goal: Shift from helplessness to empowerment and accountability

1. Empowering Questions
Encourage reflection using open-ended, solution-focused prompts:
“What do you want to change?”
“What small step can you take?”
This redirects focus from blame to agency.

2. Strength Mapping
Use art, journaling, or movement to explore past moments of resilience.
Create a “personal power map” or timeline of overcoming challenges.

3. Accountability Check-Ins
Set small, achievable goals and revisit them weekly. Ask,
“What part of this is within your control?”

This builds a habit of owning choices without shame.

The Drama Triangle: For Individuals in the Rescuer Role

Goal: Let go of over-responsibility and support others’ autonomy

1. Boundary Rehearsals
Use role-play or visual art (e.g., boundary circles) to explore where their responsibility ends.
Practice phrases like:
“I trust you’ll find a way through this.”

2. Compassionate Detachment
Use guided imagery or journaling:
Imagine helping without fixing—what does that look and feel like?
Create a mantra:
“I support without rescuing.”

3. Offer Support Through Questions, Not Solutions
Encourage use of coaching-style questions:
“What have you tried so far?”
“What do you think would help next?”

This fosters self-trust in the other person.

Breaking Free from the Drama Triangle

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a cycle of conflict where you feel like you're always rescuing others, being blamed, or trying to escape being the "bad guy"? This might be the Drama Triangle at play, a powerful framework that helps us understand the roles we unconsciously adopt in relationships:

The Rescuer – feels the need to save or fix others
The Victim – feels powerless or helpless
The Persecutor– criticizes or controls to protect themselves

These roles can shift rapidly, leaving us feeling exhausted, misunderstood, or disconnected.

As a Holistic Creative Arts Therapist, I’ve seen how gently exploring these roles through art, movement, and storytelling can help us reclaim our power, cultivate healthier boundaries, and foster compassionate communication.

You are not your role. You are so much more.

What if you stepped out of the triangle and into a space of choice, creativity, and self-awareness?

🎨 Let's open the conversation:

Have you noticed yourself in any of these roles lately — at work, in your family, or even internally? What helped you shift out of it?

Drop a comment or send a message — I’d love to hear your story.

Surprising habits that feel like a hug when you are running on empty...

1. Write down 3 things that went well today

2. Drink something warm while sitting, drink slowly.

3. Set a timer for 10 mins, sit and do literally nothing... Dolce far niente 🪷
