❤️Remembrance Sunday❤️

Yesterday morning, our residents and staff came together to mark Remembrance Sunday, travelling to Ringwood to join the local community in a heartfelt morning of reflection and gratitude.

After a peaceful walk around the town centre, with a stop for warming coffees and delicious locally baked cakes, we joined the parade outside the church and walked together to the Memorial Gardens for the service of remembrance.

Everyone was moved by the beautiful displays of knitted poppies created by the local WI. Ken’s favourite were the purple poppies, honouring the many animals who bravely supported the war efforts.💜

It was a truly special morning spent together... reflecting, remembering, and giving thanks to all those who have served and continue to serve. ❤️

💕Arts & Crafts for Remembrance💕

Residents at St Ives House had a lovely afternoon in the Bistro today, getting creative with some meaningful arts & crafts.

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, our residents have lovingly handmade their own poppy badges to wear with pride — both for the local Remembrance Service in Ringwood this Sunday, and for our annual Remembrance & Reflection morning.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with creativity, conversation, and heartfelt memories as we honour those we’ve loved and lost. ❤️

✨ A Beautiful Evening of Reflection ✨

Residents and staff from St Ives House enjoyed a truly special night at Candles on the Green at Wimborne Minster on Saturday evening. 🕯️💚

Together with the local community, we took part in an evening of remembrance and reflection, listening to heartfelt words, angelic choir performances, and watching the green glow softly with the light of hundreds of candles.

It was a touching reminder of togetherness, peace, and the warmth that shines brightest when a community comes together. 🌟

🍂 A Perfect Autumn Afternoon at St Ives House! 🍁

Residents enjoyed a wonderful trip out in the crisp Autumn sunshine, making the most of the blue skies and fresh air. 🌤️

We headed over to Wolvercroft Garden Centre in Alderholt for some seasonal pumpkin picking 🎃, followed by delicious hot chocolate and toasted teacakes, the perfect treat! ☕🍰

Everyone loved being out among the trees, watching families and children enjoying the day, and even spotting a few horses nearby. 🐴

Ken shared how special the visit was for him, it brought back fond memories of visiting Wolvercroft with his mother-in-law. “It was lovely to go back and reminisce,” he said. ❤️

It was truly a day full of smiles, stories, and sunshine, a wonderful way to welcome the Autumn season! 🌻🍁

🐴✨ A Special Visitor Returns! ✨🐴

Earlier this week, our residents at St Ives House were overjoyed to welcome back a very special friend... Mr Kellogs, the 29-inch-tall miniature therapy horse! 🐎💛

Mr Kellogs is a much-loved regular in our activity programme, bringing joy, calm, and plenty of smiles to everyone he meets. He made sure to visit every resident during his time with us, and it’s safe to say he was the star of the day!

Ken, a devoted animal lover, was especially delighted:
“It was a lovely surprise! I couldn’t believe how well-behaved he was, such a gentle soul!”

We’re so grateful for the comfort and happiness Mr Kellogs brings to our home, we’re already counting down the days until his next visit! 🥰

🃏 Whist, Wine & Wonderful Company at St Ives House!

Residents at St Ives House enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of friendly competition, laughter, and socialising at our Whist competition in the Bistro! 💗

With teams randomly drawn from a hat, the event brought together residents from St Ives House and our lovely neighbours from the apartments and cottages of St Ives Place, creating a perfect opportunity to catch up with friends over a game of Whist and a delicious spread of cheese and wine. 🧀🍷

Resident Pauline shared,
“I have had such a great afternoon. It was great to meet new people and play Whist, it’s one of our favourites to play, and it was great fun!”

Here's to more afternoons filled with joy, games, and great company! 🥂💛

👟Betty and Harry, who both live at St Ives House care home, joined the Care South team for the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s annual Walk for Wards event at Upton Country Park 🍃. Harry walked the route while Betty was assisted in her wheelchair by the St Ives House team.

⭐ In total, more than 30 people made up our team, including residents, relatives, staff and families across our Dorset based homes, who took on the 3km route of the charity event. Meanwhile, residents from Alexandra House and Elizabeth House care homes in Poole joined in with a warm-up led by BH Live before the start and cheered from the sidelines as participants finished the challenge 🙌🏼

💗 Betty said: “I enjoyed being outdoors in the fresh air with the other people taking part. I last came to Upton Country Park quite a few years ago so it was nice to come back.”

💗 Fellow resident, Harry, said: “It was very well set-up. I visited Upton Country Park a long time ago, so I enjoyed seeing it again.”

St Ives House is extremely excited to be introducing Namaste Care for our residents living with dementia 💜

💜 This morning, Karen Hodges, Care South Dementia Lead hosted an insightful information session in our Bistro, where staff and families came together to learn about the calming, sensory-based approach of Namaste Care.

Designed to enhance comfort, connection, and quality of life, Namaste Care offers a gentle, person-centred way to support individuals living with dementia 💜

💜 Our team and relatives are all looking forward to bringing this wonderful approach into our Dementia community, and seeing the positive impact it will bring to the lives of our residents.

🌞 Spontaneous sunshine calls for a spontaneous adventure! 🌞

Residents at St Ives House made the most of the first glimpse of sun this week with a surprise trip out on the mini bus! 🚐✨

They headed down to Christchurch Quay for an afternoon of fun, friendship, and fresh air – walking the quay, feeding the ducks 🦆, and getting those steps in as they prep for the Walk for Wards event for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity. 👟💪

Laughter, smiles, and sunshine all around... What more could you ask for? 💛
