EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MĀNUKA HONEY
Foodies and wellness buffs around the globe have fallen head over heels for Mānuka honey, a type of honey that is native to the beautiful island country of New Zealand. This dark, golden honey is produced by European honey bees which pollinate the flowers of Mānuka trees, an evergreen tree found in remote regions of New Zealand. The Mānuka tree features thick branches with white flowers that have a sweet scent that bees can’t resist.

Whilst regular honey has long been praised for its many incredible health properties, Mānuka honey has been shown to offer even stronger, more potent health benefits. In this article, we’ll be exploring everything you need to know about this New Zealand superfood, from how it’s harvested to what benefits it offers to why every drop of Melora Mānuka honey is so special.
HISTORY OF MĀNUKA HONEY
The Mānuka tree has a long history dating back to New Zealand’s first settlers, the indigenous Māori1. The Māori referred to this superplant as “taonga” or “treasure,” and prized it for its wide variety of uses.

Although its antimicrobial properties were known in traditional Māori medicine, it wasn’t until 1980 that the antimicrobial power of Mānuka honey was confirmed by biochemist Peter Molan.

Since then, Mānuka honey has steadily gained popularity and extensive research has been conducted regarding its range of health benefits.
WHAT ARE THE SCIENTIFIC BENEFITS OF MĀNUKA HONEY?
Now, for the million-dollar question—what’s so great about this type of honey anyway? Mānuka honey is brimming with natural vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and contains an active ingredient called methylglyoxal (MGO), which has been scientifically shown to have antibacterial effects2. As a result, this liquid gold offers many science-backed health benefits, including:

► Wound healing

► Antibacterial properties

► Antiviral properties

► Anti-inflammatory properties

► Enhanced immune function

► Reduced cholesterol levels

► Soothing sore throats

► Helps prevent gastric ulcers

At The Keeping Well we have a comprehensive range of delicious Mānuka honey of various strengths in jars, squeezy bottles, lozenges and sprays.
Why not give it a try for yourself, particularly during these colder and wetter days, to help keep those Winter ailments at bay!

New Year, New Start
Time to Detox?
We are all bombarded by toxins daily, and many heavy metals get absorbed into our body fat and tissues.

This increases inflammation and can lead to fatigue, gut issues, obesity, hormone imbalances, thyroid issues, impaired wound healing, depression, anxiety, learning difficulties, and even linked to chronic conditions such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and cancer.

Our Sea'N'Green Capsules is a powerful all-in-one heavy metal cleansing daily formula with nutrient-dense foods from the sea & earth’s soil to bind and flush out harmful toxins. An organic seaweed and super greens blend with a synergistic blend of herbs and botanicals.
Description
Organic seaweed, vegetable and herbal combination food supplement:

This organic food supplement offers a unique blend of iodine-rich, food-approved seaweeds (Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus vesiculosus), with a range of vegetables and herbs: artichoke, chlorella, green tea leaf, spirulina, ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) root and cayenne.

Iodine contributes to: normal cognitive function, normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, the maintenance of normal skin, the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function, as well as to the normal growth of children.

The iodine also has the added benefit of being sourced from seaweed that naturally contains all the other minerals and micronutrients needed for its proper transport and metabolism (including selenium, tyrosine, zinc, copper, vitamins A, B2, B3, B6 and C).

As most iodine is from dairy and meat, this is ideal in vegan, vegetarian, allergy and intolerance diets.
