With snow remaining on the mountains and following last weekend's parking issues at Pen y Pass, visitors to Eryri are strongly urged to park safely and responsibly.

We understand that the area is outstandingly beautiful โ€“ even more so with a blanket of snow, but common sense must still prevail.

Leaving vehicles at edges of snow lined carriageways and pushing others into the paths of oncoming vehicles at best increases the risk of coming back to a damaged vehicle, but at worst, hugely increases the risk of serious personal injury.

If you are planning on visiting Eryri, please familiarise yourself with the weather forecast and keep an eye on social media channels - we want you to stay safe ๐Ÿ’™

โš ๏ธ Storm Goretti will bring a spell of heavy rain, snow and strong wind on Thursday into Friday morning.

๐ŸŒง๏ธA Met Office yellow warning for rain is in force from 12pm โ€“ 9pm Thursday covering South West Wales with surface water impact and some flood alerts possible.

Stay safe if you have to travel โ€“ never drive through flood water. Check our website for the latest information and to sign up to receive flood warnings https://orlo.uk/WZ9ri

โ„๏ธA Met Office amber and yellow for snow is in force for large parts of Wales and will likely lead to disruption and dangerous travelling conditions Thursday night into Friday.

During this snowy and icy weather, be aware that access roads, car parks and trails at our woodlands and reserves are not gritted and may be inaccessible, especially on higher ground. Do not walk on frozen ponds or lakes, or allow children or pets on to the ice.

โ„๏ธ Winter Roads Ahead? Stay Safe! โ„๏ธ

Driving on icy or snowy surfaces requires extra caution. Here are some quick tips to keep you and others safe:

โœ… Increase your following distance to 8-10 seconds on slippery roads.
โœ… Watch how other vehicles react on hills and keep a safe gap.
โœ… Steer and brake smoothly - avoid sudden, jerky movements.
โœ… Stick to the ploughed lane and only change lanes if necessary.
โœ… Skip cruise control on icy surfaces - itโ€™s not your friend in winter!
โœ… Be alert in shaded areas, bridges, and intersections - they freeze first!

Stay alert, and letโ€™s make it home safe this winter ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’™

โ— Plans in place to support patients, staff and services over the coming days โ—

โ„๏ธ With severe weather forecast over the coming days we are advising people to keep themselves well and take extra care if travelling to hospital for an appointment.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow, ice, and cold conditions in North Wales from this evening into tomorrow morning. Some areas, especially higher ground, may see 5 to 20 cm of snow, icy roads, and travel disruption.

Our hospitals remain incredibly busy at this time as we continue to manage the usual winter demand placed on our services. Alongside this, we have faced additional pressures from seasonal infections and respiratory viruses, as well as the impact of the adverse weather that hit the region last weekend.

We ask people to check our Local Health Services information to ensure they access care and support at the most appropriate place if they need it. There are a range of services available to people, such as NHS 111 Wales, our minor injury units and pharmacies, that can be accessed qu**ky and without an appointment.

If youโ€™re out and about over the next few days ensure you wrap up warm and wear appropriate footwear as some pavements could be icy and increase the chances of slips and falls.

We would also encourage people to check on older people or those living alone. The cold weather increases the risk of hypothermia, especially amongst the elderly, as well as increasing the risk of injury such as slipping or falling in icy conditions.

Following the yellow weather warning for snow in place until midday tomorrow, North Wales Police and partners are renewing their appeal to the public to take extra care and consider whether their journeys are essential.

Snow showers are set to continue across North Wales this afternoon and into this evening, with predictions for heavier snow between around 7pm and 10pm in the West area.

Ice will also be a widespread risk, particularly inland.

Chief Inspector Emma Parry from North Wales Police said:
โ€œIโ€™d like to thank members of the public for listening to our appeals to take care and avoid unnecessary journeys in areas affected by the snow and ice.
โ€œIf you are travelling, please check your routes and the weather along the way and at your end destination โ€“ and remember to drive safely, allowing extra time for your journey and keeping a safe distance at all times.
โ€œIce is set to be an issue tonight and tomorrow morning, so please take this into consideration before venturing out - drivers still need to drive very carefully, even if the roads are not white.
โ€œMany thanks to our partner agencies for working with us to keep everyone safe.โ€
