Rugby Town Centre / Through the Years 🕰️
The B.T.H. (British Thomson-Houston) Works 💡

Telephonists’ Rest Room, B.T.H., Rugby, 1936 ✨
Inside the B.T.H. factory, telephonists had their own rest room — a small but important space for staff to take a break during busy working days. A glimpse into the lives of the people behind Rugby’s industry.

B.T.H. Mauretania Siren, Power House, 1940 ✨
The Mauretania siren on B.T.H.’s Power House was used for air raid precautions during wartime. It was tested on Friday nights only, as the sound temporarily flattened the boilers — a reminder of both industrial ingenuity and the realities of the era.

B.T.H. Works, Rugby – Earlier 1900s, 1910 ✨
The B.T.H. (British Thomson-Houston) works were a key part of Rugby’s industrial landscape in the early 20th century, providing employment and shaping the town’s growth. Smoke stacks, powerhouses, and workshops reflected the industrial character of Rugby at the time.
