How do you practice self-care? Self-care is not just about hot baths and binge watching Netflix, although that can be good. It’s about firstly understanding what our needs are and then meeting them on a daily basis. These needs can be emotional, physical, social, professional etc. So often we get so busy trying to meet everyone else’s needs that we find ourselves having no time to even think about meeting our own needs. This is how we end up feeling out of balance.

(When you're not used to being confident, confidence feels like arrogance. When you're used to being passive, assertiveness feels like aggression. When you're not used to getting your needs met, prioritizing yourself feels selfish. Your comfort zone is not a good benchmark.-)

What is mindfulness and how can it help?
Mindfulness is about becoming more present in the here and now. Life can get so busy at times and it can be so easy to stay in autopilot. When we do this we are not in tune with our needs. Mindfulness exercises can help you practice becoming more mindful and present in everyday life, and hopefully in time you will notice that you are naturally in a more mindful state. Mindfulness can be really helpful at reducing stress, improving self-confidence and creating a happier outlook on life. Each week I will add a different mindfulness exercise that you can use to help build your mindfulness practice.
