For 2026, we’re proud to be supporting ALABARÉ — selected by our residents as our Charity of the Year 💛

This incredible charity is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness, providing safe, stable accommodation, counselling, mental health support, skills training, and pathways to independence for people in crisis.

We can’t wait to get involved, raise some funds, and see the difference we can make together.

A recent trip into Salisbury ☕🛍️

Residents stopped for a hot drink before exploring the shop and garden, enjoying some friendly banter and a few laughs along the way. Minibus driver Martin even photobombed the photos!

A fun outing that gave everyone a change of scenery and a chance to pick up some winter treats.

We were proud to recently present a cheque to Salisbury Hospice Charity, our 2025 Charity of the Year, following a year of fundraising at Braemar Lodge.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our residents, the support of families and friends, and the dedication of our team, we raised an incredible amount... and had a lot of fun along the way!

Resident Kay, seen here, was one of the most avid participants in our 501-mile virtual walk, so it was only right she had the honour of presenting the cheque to Hospice representative Louise.

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising activities and helped make this possible.

Braemar Lodge resident Ian, a proud former member of the 10th Royal Hussars, recently enjoyed a trip to Winchester’s HorsePower, The Museum of The King's Royal Hussars, exploring the history of his regiment and sharing memories of his service.

Ian began the day with a relaxed lunch before immersing himself in the museum’s displays — from 18th-century uniforms to a 1950s armoured vehicle. Each exhibit prompted reflections on his time in service, including active duty in Aden and his early days as a Centurion tank driver.

Companionship Team Leader Graham, who accompanied him, said, “This visit was about recognising Ian’s service and giving him space to share his experiences. It was a privilege to see how meaningful it was for him.”

Residents, families, and staff came together to celebrate those completing the 501-mile virtual trek to raise funds for Salisbury Hospice, and also recognise our Home of the Year award, and Veteran Friendly Home status.

Pianist Kevin added a festive touch, while residents presented certificates and gifts to staff. A heart-warming celebration full of pride and community spirit 💛

A beautiful World Kindness Day activity in our home 💛

Our residents spent the afternoon creating personalised thank-you cards for our amazing staff teams - a heartfelt way to recognise their care and dedication. The cards were warmly received, and the smiles said it all.

A simple act of kindness that meant so much to everyone.

Last week, Braemar Lodge welcomed veterans, residents, families, and colleagues from across Colten Care for a Service of Remembrance and commemorative Veterans’ Lunch.

The day was filled with reflection, music, and community connection — from the poignant performance and handprint poppy display by Little Druids Nursery to the heartfelt Last Post and Reveille played by Companionship Team Leader Graham, a former Staff Sergeant in the Royal Horse Artillery.

Following the service, attendees enjoyed a lunch together, with all guests receiving a Remembrance Day lapel badge to mark the occasion. Graham said, “It was an honour to host veterans and their families. Seeing residents, staff, and the wider community come together to celebrate and remember those who served made this a truly special day.”
