65 years and older – Most common age group
75–84 years – Risk increases substantially
85+ years – Highest prevalence
About:
~5–8% of people over 65 have dementia
~15–25% over 85 are affected
🧠 Early-Onset Dementia
Dementia can also occur in people under 65, known as early-onset (or young-onset) dementia, but this is much less common.
The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer's disease, which primarily affects older adults.
