Therapy isn’t a performance (we often have enough of that to do in the outside world)— it’s a real, human space.

Bring the unfiltered language.
Bring the messy emotions.
Bring the overthinking, the ā€œI don’t even know where to start,ā€ the tears, the laughter.
If your cat walks across the screen, your dog barks mid-breakthrough, or you need a quick toilet break — we roll with it. 🐾🚪
There’s no ā€œrightā€ way to show up here. Just your way. And that’s always welcome.

E.M Therapy – Compassionate Counselling for Modern Life – was designed to support individuals navigating the pressures of today’s world.
Deadlines, constant notifications, high expectations, and the feeling of always needing to ā€œkeep upā€ can take a toll.
Therapy here offers a calm, supportive space to slow down, untangle your thoughts, and build tools to manage modern life stress with confidence.
You don’t have to carry it all alone. šŸ¤Ž

Therapy is a space where you get to pause the constant effort of surviving your own story.

For many people, life becomes about coping — getting through the day, managing triggers, replaying old narratives that were written in moments of pain, loss, or fear.
Over time, those narratives can start to feel permanent. ā€œThis is just who I am.ā€ ā€œThis is how my relationships go.ā€ ā€œThis is what I deserve.ā€

Therapy gently challenges that inevitability.

In the therapy room, you’re not rushed. You’re not performing. You’re not minimising your feelings to make others comfortable.
Instead, you’re invited to explore where your story began, how it shaped you, and whether it still fits the person you’re becoming.
Surviving your story is about endurance.ļæ½Rewriting it is about agency.

That shift happens slowly — through insight, self-compassion, accountability, and new choices. You begin to notice patterns. You experiment with different responses. You separate what happened to you from who you are.

Therapy isn’t about erasing the past. It’s about reclaiming authorship.

You are more than the chapters written in survival mode. And you deserve a space where healing isn’t just about getting through — it’s about becoming.

ANXIETY DESENSITISATION- is like teaching a smoke alarm the difference between burnt toast and a house fire.
At first, the alarm goes off at everything —
Burnt bread
Steam from the shower
Heat in the kitchen.
It’s loud, urgent, overwhelming. It feels real. Your body reacts as if there’s danger.
Avoidance would mean never making toast again and if you’re anything like me, this a definitely not an option!!!

Desensitisation means staying in the kitchen — calmly, repeatedly — while nothing actually burns down.
Over time, the alarm recalibrates.
It learns: this is uncomfortable, not catastrophic.
The sound may still come on at first. But it gets shorter. Softer. Less convincing.
Eventually, the system doesn’t panic at toast anymore.

Anxiety desensitisation isn’t about silencing the alarm.ļæ½It’s about retraining it to ring only when there’s real fire.

Working on anxiety responses in the therapy room can be helpful, powerful and transformative.

Know all the theories. Master all the techniques. But as you touch a human soul, just be another human soul.ā€ — Carl Jung

In a world obsessed with credentials and expertise, this is your reminder: presence matters more than perfection. ✨
Knowledge impresses.
Technique refines.
But empathy heals.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can be… is simply human.

The very foundation of E.M Therapy šŸ¤Ž

Anxiety isn’t weakness — it’s your nervous system trying to protect you. It’s the racing thoughts, tight chest, and restlessness that show up when your brain senses danger, even if that danger is just uncertainty or fear.
The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety, but to regulate it.
With slow breathing, gentle movement, grounding techniques, and support when needed, you can calm your body and move forward — even while feeling anxious.

I genuinely love supporting clients who experience anxiety and share their felt freedom when they ā€˜make friends’ with it.

✨ We need anxiety (sorry to those desperate to get rid of it)
✨It exists to protect us.
✨It’s often part of our primal, ancestry brain that has existed long enough to keep humans alive all of these centuries.
✨Its only downside- it cannot tell the difference between perceived danger and real threat and so forces us to respond to either of these in the same way.
Thats where anxiety therapy can be helpful, powerful and transformative.

Every time a client sits down and chooses to trust me with their story in therapy, I’m reminded why I chose this path.
To be invited into someone’s inner world — their fears, hopes, wounds, and growth — is not something I ever take lightly. It is an honor.
Holding space for healing, resilience, and truth is a privilege I carry with deep gratitude.

The constant stream of headlines about sexual abuse and sexual exploitation is heavy right now.
For survivors, it can be more than heavy — it can be activating.
You might notice disrupted sleep, heightened anxiety, anger, numbness, or feeling on edge. This is not you being ā€œtoo sensitive.ā€ This is your nervous system responding to perceived threat.
We can care deeply about global issues and still recognise when our bodies need a break.
Staying informed does not require constant immersion.ļæ½Advocacy does not require self-abandonment.ļæ½Awareness does not require re-traumatisation.
If you need to mute updates, log off, or limit exposure, that is not avoidance. It is regulation.
You are allowed to:– Protect your peace– Choose when and how you engage– Prioritise your safety– Care for yourself while caring about others

Being informed and being well are not opposites.

If this season of news feels overwhelming, consider:
• Setting time limits for news intake• Avoiding graphic details• Unfollowing triggering accounts• Grounding after reading difficult content• Reaching out for support
Your wellbeing matters too.

If you need immediate support, please reach out to trusted local services in your area.

ā€œAll you do is listen to people talk all day.. How hard can it beā€?

Therapist;

šŸ¤Ž Thinking about theory and interventions
šŸ¤Ž Integrating psycho-education
šŸ¤Ž Deciding when to allow the silence v’s when to gently challenge or re-direct
šŸ¤Ž Writing legally and ethically defensible notes
šŸ¤Ž Tracking time and shaping the session
šŸ¤Ž Identifying patterns, defenses, cognitive distortions, activated parts and attachment dynamics in real time
šŸ¤Ž Tracking verbal and non-verbal cues
šŸ¤Ž Regulating own nervous system
šŸ¤Ž Ignoring own biological alarm clocks of needing to p*e and eat (yes, the tummy rumbles are real in my room)
šŸ¤Ž Simultaneously holding history, diagnosis, trauma and therapy goals in mind.

At its core, therapy is an active, structured process designed to help someone create insight, change patterns, and improve their emotional well-being. Listening is important, but it’s only the foundation.

Listening creates safety.
Technique creates movement.
Insight creates change.

If you’d like to step into my ā€˜listening space’, do feel free to contact me on the l below.

Healing your inner world is one of the most powerful gifts you can give—not just to yourself, but to everyone who comes after you.
When we step into therapy, we’re not just talking about our own pain. We’re gently untangling patterns that may have been passed down for generations—unspoken fears, survival responses, silence, emotional wounds that were never given space to breathe.
Generational trauma doesn’t begin with us. But healing can.

Through therapy, we learn to:

šŸ¤Ž Recognise inherited patterns
šŸ¤Ž Respond instead of react
šŸ¤Ž Set healthy boundaries
šŸ¤Ž Regulate our nervous systems
šŸ¤Ž Rewrite the stories we were handed

Every time you choose self-awareness over avoidance, compassion over criticism, and growth over guilt, you shift the legacy.
You become the safe place you may have never had.
You model emotional freedom.
You normalise vulnerability.
And that changes everything—for your children, your relationships, and the generations you may never meet.
Healing yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s ancestral work.

October 2024 is Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The truth behind what isn’t and what IS Domestic Violence can be confusing for those trapped in a cycle of behaviour which doesn’t necessarily include physical harm. It’s always good to be aware that domestic violence can also include one or many of the behaviours listed below and, should you find yourself experiencing any of this then please always know that there is someone who will listen, support and believe you. šŸ¤

ā€œHE DIDNT HIT MEā€

He just went through my phone every time I was in the shower,

Provoking fights that would last for hours,

Always apologizing with a bouquet of flowers.

He didn’t hit me.

He just hated all my friends.

Told me they were no good and that I should just stay in.

He was careful to always remind me I was unworthy,

And any time I spoke to a man, he would accuse me of being flirty.

He laughed, saying no one else would ever love me,

Making me feel nothing but useless and ugly.

He didn’t hit me.

He would just break our things on the rare occasions I decided to go out,

Coming home to his aggressive shouts.

He just deleted all my contacts who were men,

Telling me to never speak to them again.

He didn’t hit me.

He just wouldn’t listen when I said no,

Every day stealing a little more of my glow.

He would criticize my appearance,

Calling me stupid, every day weakening my resilience.

He didn’t hit me.

He would just threaten his own life when I would try to leave,

A burden no one should receive.

He didn’t hit me.

He just made me hate myself every day.

Worried how the hell I would get away.

He didn’t hit me.

Until one day, he overheard a call.

Hearing that I was leaving, he pushed me toward the wall. Put his hands around my throat.

But, he didn’t hit me."

Until he did.
