My morning Auyevedic Ritual and why it matter
I want to share with you all my morning Ayurvedic ritual and why it’s become such an important part of my daily practice before I do my meditation and personal Asanas
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient holistic healing system that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It’s all about creating balance within the body, mind and spirit by working with your natural rhythms rather than against them. It teaches us that how we start our day sets the tone for everything that follows.
For me, this morning ritual is more than just routine, it’s a moment of grounding, self-respect and intention before the world begins.
My Morning Ayurvedic Ritual
Nasal Cleansing (Jala Neti)
This involves gently cleansing the nasal passages using warm salt water. It helps clear out toxins, allergens and congestion while improving breathing and mental clarity. I always feel lighter and more focused afterwards.
Tongue Scraping
Before eating or drinking anything, I gently scrape my tongue to remove toxins (known as ama in Ayurveda) that build up overnight. It supports digestion, freshens breath and is a simple way to check in with my overall health.
Dry Body Brushing
Using a natural bristle brush, I stimulate the skin and lymphatic system with long, sweeping strokes. This boosts circulation, supports detoxification and leaves my skin feeling alive and energised.
Warm Water (often with lemon)
Starting the day with warm water helps to awaken the digestive system and gently cleanse the body from within.
Why This Matters
This ritual isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection.
Connection to my body, my breath, and my intentions for the day.
It helps me:
• Feel grounded and calm
• Support my immune and digestive systems
• Create a sense of discipline and self-care
• Start the day with clarity and purpose
In a world that can feel rushed and overwhelming, this is my way of slowing down and choosing myself first.
If you’ve never tried an Ayurvedic morning routine, start small, even one practice can make a difference
Lots of love
