🍂 Friday Round-Up at Outram Fields! 🍂

We had the pleasure of welcoming Caroline from Well with nature who joined us for a lovely morning of making autumnal leaf wreaths. She shared so many fascinating nature-based facts, and our residents loved reminiscing about gardening, growing, and old favourite recipes — a wonderful way to stay connected with nature as winter approaches.

🎶 An Afternoon of Music & Joy 🎶
In the afternoon, our café was filled with residents, friends and family as Phill Laurence performed uplifting songs from across the ages. Many were singing along and tapping to the beat — the perfect end to a heartwarming day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

🌟 Celebrating Another Internal Promotion at Outram Fields 🌟

We are delighted to announce that Donna Ricketts has been promoted from Care Assistant to Senior Carer for the next six months while Kristie steps into the Care Coordinator role.

Donna has been with us from the very start, joining Outram Fields when we opened in February 2024. With five years of experience in care, previously working in Home Care, Donna brings a wealth of compassion, professionalism, and genuine warmth to her work every single day.

Since joining us, she has completed her NVQ Level 2 with distinction and is now progressing through her Level 3 — a testament to her commitment to developing her skills and delivering the highest standards of care.

Anyone who has seen Donna with our residents will know just how passionate she is about what she does. Her dedication, kindness, and steady presence make her an invaluable member of our team and a real asset to Outram Fields.

Please join us in congratulating Donna on her well-deserved promotion 👏💙

At Outram Fields, we believe true wellbeing comes from nurturing the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Our activity programme isn’t just about keeping busy; it’s about connecting, creating, and moving together. 🤝

This week, residents have enjoyed art-making inspired by the theme “Weather,” helping us gently welcome the winter season. 🎨 We’ve shared laughter and teamwork through our regular puzzles and games sessions, joined by our wonderful volunteers and care staff. And, of course, we’ve kept our bodies active and spirits high through movement and exercise with Community Wellness Services.

Well done to all our residents, volunteers, and team members for another fantastic week! 👏

🎬 A warm welcome back to Age UK Sheffield

It was a pleasure to host a group from Age UK Sheffield Memory Cafés in our cinema this afternoon for the first of two showings of Downton Abbey: The Finale. Another group will be joining us next Monday, followed by two special Christmas screenings in December.

We’re proud to play a small part in supporting local initiatives that bring people together and celebrate later life. Welcoming groups like Age UK not only strengthens community links across Sheffield, but also gives visitors a glimpse of what life in a modern care home is really like. Many guests commented on how beautiful and welcoming the home felt — something we’re always delighted to hear.

Yesterday, we said a fond farewell to our wonderful Care Assistant, Joanne, as she worked her last day at Outram Fields. Jo has been with us right from the very beginning, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and kindness she has consistently shown our Residents. This week at Outram Fields, our residents and children from the after-school club have been busy making beautiful poppy decorations to adorn the home. ❤️

This morning, we came together to watch the Remembrance service. It was a moving moment that brought back memories for many — of loved ones who served, and of childhoods shaped by the war years.

Taking time to remember together sparked meaningful conversation, reflection, and pride in those who gave so much. 🌺

Our residents have been baking up a storm, creating the most colourful sprinkle cornflake cakes to share with friends and family. The delicious aroma of syrup and chocolate filled the room and we couldn’t get enough! 🍫 🌈

The afternoon called for a friendly but lively game of picture bingo — a fantastic way to keep our minds active and enjoy some quality time together. 🧠✨

To round off a wonderful day, we gathered to watch Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale film on the big screen. It was a full house and a truly popular choice — the perfect cosy ending to a fun-filled day! 🎞️☕

🌟 Congratulations, Kristie! 🌟

We’re delighted to share that Kristie Edwards, one of our Outram originals, has been promoted to Care Coordinator while our Deputy Manager, Vicky, is on maternity leave.

Kristie joined Outram Fields in February 2024 as a Senior Carer and has been a valued and dependable part of our team ever since.

Before starting her career in care, Kristie represented Great Britain as a sprinter at just 18 years old. She went on to complete a degree in Physical Education and School Sport — showing the same strength and determination that she brings to her role today.

Her journey into care was inspired by her close relationship with her grandad and a wish to make a real difference to others’ lives.

In her new position, Kristie will be responsible for audits, medication ordering, and supporting the wider care team to ensure our residents continue to receive the highest standards of care.

Please join us in congratulating Kristie on her well-deserved promotion 👏💐

What a wonderful week of intergenerational fun and creativity! 🌟

On Wednesday, our residents spent a joyful morning with the toddlers, sharing a Guy Fawkes storytime and some colourful firework colouring 🎆. There were smiles all around — it’s amazing how much joy the little ones bring to everyone’s day! 💕

This afternoon, we welcomed our After School Club for a peaceful and meaningful session making poppies for all our residents ❤️. It was a beautiful way to come together and reflect as we prepare to mark Remembrance Day. 🌺

We love seeing different generations connect, create, and share special moments together!
