🎅 Carols with the Toddlers! 🧑‍🎄

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the toddlers and three wonderfully talented musicians — Polly, Kate and Peter — for a magical morning of Christmas cheer! ✨

They did a fabulous job entertaining our residents, mixing music, props and plenty of adorable little faces. We all sang along to classics like Away in a Manger and Silent Night, and even learned some new favourites such as If It’s Christmas and You Know It. 🎶

The visit filled our home with huge smiles, laughter and heart-warming moments that we’ve been talking about all day. 💛

A massive thank you to Kim and Michelle for bringing along their childminders’ group each month and for arranging this special festive visit. And our heartfelt thanks to Polly, Kate and Peter for so kindly performing and creating such a joyful atmosphere.

We had such a lovely day spent with wonderful friends here at Outram Fields.

🥧 This morning, we rolled up our sleeves and made mince pies — an essential Christmas tradition! It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from festive baking, sharing stories, and working side by side during this special time of year.

This afternoon, we were joined by Community Wellness Services for a lively session of active games, including parachute play, balloon tennis and hoop throwing. These activities offered a fun way to keep everyone moving, gently improving coordination while enjoying plenty of laughter with the team. 🥎

☕ By the time afternoon tea arrived, our residents were more than ready for a warm cup of tea and a mince pies, gathered together for a cosy end to the day. What a treat!

A Wonderfully Creative Day with Friends at Outram Fields! 🎄

This morning, everyone enjoyed crafting beautiful festive stars using sequins, pom poms, and ribbon — a fun way to challenge dexterity and express artistic flair. The results were absolutely stunning! ⭐

We rounded off the day with a few relaxing games of Rummikub before tea, sharing quality time and good conversation with friends.

Last but certainly not least, we celebrated a very special someone’s birthday today. Sue has been an important part of our community, and we wish her the loveliest birthday filled with joy and warm wishes. ❤️🎂

✨ Christmas Bingo at Outram Fields ✨

This afternoon residents gathered for a festive round of Christmas Bingo, complete with mince pies and stollen cakes to enjoy while they played.

Activities like bingo support concentration, coordination and social connection — and the added Christmas twist brought plenty of smiles and gentle competition across the tables.

A lovely way to spend a December afternoon together. 🎄😊

Yesterday afternoon we were delighted to welcome back Liz Maxwell and her recorder ensemble to the Wentworth Lounge for the second Christmas running. Their festive programme created a warm and uplifting atmosphere for everyone listening.

It was especially meaningful for us at Outram Fields, as our resident Gill was able to rejoin the recorder group she previously played with — returning to familiar music, familiar faces, and a passion that has been part of her life for many years. Supporting residents to stay connected to past interests is invaluable in maintaining identity, confidence and wellbeing.

We’re already looking forward to their next visit.

A Tale of Two Christmas Events at Outram Fields ✨

Yesterday brought a wonderful mix of history, creativity and community spirit to Outram Fields.

In the morning we welcomed the brilliant local historian Janet Ridler, who delivered a captivating talk on Victorian Christmas traditions. Residents - guests loved hearing how many of our well-known festive customs first began — a lovely way to start the season with nostalgia and learning.

Then, in the evening, our top floor was transformed for a wreath-making workshop led by Caroline Well with nature A particular highlight was one of our residents — who previously worked at Valerie of Dore Florist — sharing her skill in crafting the perfect bow, adding a lovely personal touch to the session.

A big thank you to Janet, Caroline, and of course our talented resident bow-maker, for making the day so memorable. 🎄💫

Puss in Boots Pantomime Christmas Special 💫

We were delighted to welcome Northeast Producers Ltd to the home today for their brilliant Christmas Puss in Boots Pantomime. 🎭What a fabulous performance filled with storytelling, singing, dancing, and plenty of festive cheer! 🎁

Our residents left with big smiles and wonderful feedback — they absolutely loved it. The travelling theatre company does an amazing job bringing the magic of theatre to everyone in the community, and today was no exception.

A massive thank you to the fantastic North East performers for joining us, and to all the friends and family who came along to make the day even more special. ❤️

🎄 Men’s Pub Club at The Cross Scythes Totley 🎄

Today our Men’s Pub Club enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Cross Scythes, where conversation flowed just as well as the food arrived. With Christmas approaching, the gentlemen shared memories of Christmas Eve across different stages of life — from their own childhood traditions, to the years of bringing up their children, and stories of when their grandchildren were little.

These moments of reflection are so valuable. They strengthen connection, spark meaningful conversations and help keep cherished family traditions alive.

🎄 1st December: Our First Christmas Party of the Season 🎄

We were delighted to be invited to the People Keeping Well South West/Age UK Sheffield
Christmas party today — a wonderful start to December.

Thank you to Kathy Markwick and her fantastic team for organising such a warm and welcoming afternoon.

Residents enjoyed entertainment from the brilliant Oliver Harris by a traditional Christmas roast (and of course, a mince pie or two).

We even had a very special visit from Father Christmas himself…
and let’s just say, a few of us at Outram Fields thought he looked remarkably familiar. There’s a certain someone in our team who’s very handy with tools and equally brilliant at spreading cheer. 🎅😉

🎲 Weekend Roundup at Outram Fields 🎥

This weekend we officially kicked off our festive baking season with a batch of delicious cinnamon-spiced biscuits! The home was filled with that wonderful Christmas aroma. Baking together is such a special way to share memories, enjoy good company, and celebrate the joy of creating something for others. It’s also a fantastic way to keep those fine motor skills active and engage our sensors, while staying connected with our community. 🍪

In the afternoons, residents enjoyed friendly games of dominoes and cosy film time in the cinema. Whether it was a movie that made us think or one that left us feeling inspired, it was the perfect way to wind down and spend time together as the days get shorter.

Here’s to more moments of laughter, creativity, and connection as we move through the festive season! ✨
