🎄 A little festive thank-you for our healthcare heroes 🎄

This week we are welcoming visiting healthcare professionals to spin our Healthcare Heroes Wheel of Fortune – with treats and festive goody bags up for grabs as a small token of our appreciation.

District nurses, paramedics, GPs and community teams play such an important role in supporting our residents’ wellbeing, often working closely with our team to ensure continuity of care. Taking a moment to recognise their dedication helps strengthen those relationships and creates a warm, positive environment for everyone involved.

A simple idea, lots of smiles – and a heartfelt thank you to those who support our residents every day 💙

who joined us last week for a Tropic Skincare
pop-up with our residents and their relatives 🌿

The pop-up offered a relaxed opportunity for some in-home Christmas shopping, allowing residents to browse, try products and make thoughtful gift choices without the pressure of the high street. Activities like this support independence, choice and social interaction, while also making it easy for families to enjoy the experience together.

It was a lovely, calm afternoon and a great example of how small, well-chosen events can add to everyday wellbeing at Outram Fields.

We recently had the fabulous Jamie Fox join us at Outram Fields to sing and play guitar for our residents (and staff) and what a treat it was! 🎶

His talent was clear to see in all the dancing, tapping, singing, and smiling that filled the room. The atmosphere was truly uplifting and brought so much joy to everyone involved. 🪩

With even more entertainment planned in the lead-up to Christmas, we’re excited to welcome family and friends to join us at Outram Fields as we celebrate the festive season together. 🎄✨

✨Christmas Marzipan Cake Decorations✨

This morning our residents started to add their own special touch to our three-tiered Christmas cake! 🎂
Together we enjoyed choosing festive shapes and decorating them with icing and sprinkles, bringing plenty of Christmas cheer and creativity to this wonderful collaborative project.

Connecting with all departments across the home is so important to us, and activities like this help strengthen the close, warm, and friendly community we are proud to have built here at Outram Fields ❤️

🎭 A Festive Trip to Remember! 🎭

This week, a group of our residents and their relatives enjoyed a wonderful outing to see A Christmas Carol at the Crucible. The production beautifully told the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, and with the enchanting Sheffield Carols woven throughout, Charles Dickens’ timeless classic truly shone with redemption, heart, and holiday spirit. ✨

Outings like these are so important—they help us stay connected with our community and continue doing the things we love. One of our residents has attended the Christmas production at the Crucible for many years, and we’re delighted to help keep that cherished tradition alive. ❤️

Thank you to Sheffield Theatres for making our visit enjoyable and for being so helpful while making the bookings and on the day. 💫

Crafting at Christmas in Outram Fields! 🖍️🎅

We’re embracing the festive spirit at Outram Fields with plenty of crafting and Christmas colouring! ✨ Our residents have loved the calming, mindful moments that colouring brings, along with its benefits for coordination and wellbeing.

Our weekly after-school club has been a big hit too—children and residents have created decorations and handmade Christmas cards together, filling the home with warmth and laughter. 🎨👧

And the festive fun isn’t over yet… there’s still lots more crafting, colouring, and connection to come! ✨

Getting Christmasy & Crafty at Outram Fields!🎄

Our residents have been embracing the festive spirit, creating beautiful Christmas wreaths to brighten the home. It’s been lovely to see everyone come together—making new connections and celebrating the season through creativity. 🌲🍊

These small activities support wellbeing through conversation, planning, and problem-solving, while giving residents a positive moment to reflect and reminisce.

🎄 Christmas has truly arrived at Outram 🎄

Every corner of the home is now dressed for the season, with twinkling lights, festive touches and — quite honestly — more Christmas trees than we can keep count of. Residents and team members have been busy together hanging baubles and decorations, turning shared spaces into warm, welcoming places that feel unmistakably like home.

A heartfelt thank you to the families who have so kindly gifted decorations and trees — these contributions help make our Christmas displays feel personal and meaningful for everyone.

Special thanks go to “Mrs Christmas” Pat, the daughter of one of our lovely ladies, who arrived with a car full of decorations from her former shop. Her generosity has added a wonderful sense of tradition and sparkle throughout the home.

Creating these festive surroundings together is about far more than decoration — it’s about connection, shared purpose and the simple joy of preparing for Christmas as a community.

✨ Our First Ever Outram Fields Christmas Lights Switch-On ✨
(…and the start of a brand-new tradition)

What began as a lovely idea from our Care Assistant, Philippa — “Let’s have our own lights switch-on with hot chocolate for the residents” — turned into a truly memorable moment at Outram Fields this evening.

In the spirit of community, staff and relatives gifted lights that had been gathering dust in lofts, and together we created a display that brought real joy to the home. Moments like this matter: shared anticipation, familiar festive rituals and the sparkle of lights all play an important part in supporting wellbeing, connection and a sense of belonging.

Residents on both our residential and dementia floors gathered by the windows in the warmth indoors, while our General Manager, Donna, delivered a short speech (she definitely didn’t need a microphone!).

The children from our after-school club had the all-important job of pressing the ‘on’ buttons across the different displays — all timed to a very enthusiastic countdown from residents and staff.

This was our first Christmas Lights Switch-On at Outram Fields… and it certainly won’t be our last. We’re already looking forward to watching our display grow year on year as this new tradition becomes a much-loved part of our festive season.

✨ Hot chocolate, laughter, shared memories — and a home lit up beautifully for Christmas. Just perfect. ✨

🎅 Carols with the Toddlers! 🧑‍🎄

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the toddlers and three wonderfully talented musicians — Polly, Kate and Peter — for a magical morning of Christmas cheer! ✨

They did a fabulous job entertaining our residents, mixing music, props and plenty of adorable little faces. We all sang along to classics like Away in a Manger and Silent Night, and even learned some new favourites such as If It’s Christmas and You Know It. 🎶

The visit filled our home with huge smiles, laughter and heart-warming moments that we’ve been talking about all day. 💛

A massive thank you to Kim and Michelle for bringing along their childminders’ group each month and for arranging this special festive visit. And our heartfelt thanks to Polly, Kate and Peter for so kindly performing and creating such a joyful atmosphere.

We had such a lovely day spent with wonderful friends here at Outram Fields.

🥧 This morning, we rolled up our sleeves and made mince pies — an essential Christmas tradition! It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from festive baking, sharing stories, and working side by side during this special time of year.

This afternoon, we were joined by Community Wellness Services for a lively session of active games, including parachute play, balloon tennis and hoop throwing. These activities offered a fun way to keep everyone moving, gently improving coordination while enjoying plenty of laughter with the team. 🥎

☕ By the time afternoon tea arrived, our residents were more than ready for a warm cup of tea and a mince pies, gathered together for a cosy end to the day. What a treat!

A Wonderfully Creative Day with Friends at Outram Fields! 🎄

This morning, everyone enjoyed crafting beautiful festive stars using sequins, pom poms, and ribbon — a fun way to challenge dexterity and express artistic flair. The results were absolutely stunning! ⭐

We rounded off the day with a few relaxing games of Rummikub before tea, sharing quality time and good conversation with friends.

Last but certainly not least, we celebrated a very special someone’s birthday today. Sue has been an important part of our community, and we wish her the loveliest birthday filled with joy and warm wishes. ❤️🎂

What a wonderful way to spend the day at Outram Fields! 🎅✨
