It's November, which means it is Men's Health Awareness Month ๐ฉบ
Did you know?
- Men are less likely than women to return their bowel cancer screening FIT kit than women.
- This year, in South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw, 63% of men returned their FIT kits, compared to 68% of women.
- The difference is even great in the younger age group: 53% of men aged 50 to 59 have returned their FIT kits, compared to 61% of women of the same age.
- When men do complete their bowel cancer screening test, they are more likely to have abnormal test results.
- This year, in South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw, 2.16% of men had abnormal test results, compared to 1.45% of women.
- This means that men are missing out on finding bowel cancer at the earliest stage, when it is most treatable.
This , we are encouraging more men to take part in bowel cancer screening.
