New research shows qigong can reduce symptoms of depression and improve sleep — a simple, gentle practice that supports mental wellbeing.

Qigong combines slow, flowing movement, breath control and focused attention. Studies report that regular practice helps lower anxiety, lift mood and improve sleep quality — benefits many people notice within a few weeks of practising consistently.

Try this:

Start with 10–15 minutes a day, focusing on synchronising breath with movement.

Choose short, repeatable routines and be patient — small, steady steps add up.

Immune Changes After Qigong Practice: What a New Study Suggests for Fibromyalgia & Whole‑Body Healing

✨ New research shows that just one month of Qigong practice may shift key immune markers in people with fibromyalgia.

A 2026 randomized controlled study found changes across several lymphocyte subsets and complement proteins after a short, gentle Qigong program—suggesting this mind–body practice may influence immune regulation in meaningful ways.

🔍 What the study found

- Women with fibromyalgia practiced 30 minutes of Qigong, 3×/week for 4 weeks.
- Compared with controls, the Qigong group showed:
- Lower levels of several lymphocyte subsets (CD3, CD4, CD8, CD16, CD45)
- Higher CD19%
- Increased complement protein C3
- These shifts point toward broad immune modulation, not just a single biomarker change.

🧠 Why it matters

Fibromyalgia involves complex interactions between the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. Practices like Qigong—combining movement, breath, and focused attention—may help regulate stress physiology, which in turn can influence immune balance.

⚠️ A note of caution
This was a small, exploratory study, and the biological meaning of these immune changes isn’t fully understood yet. More research is needed to link these shifts to symptom improvement.

I received this wonderful testimonial today from a client who first came to me with a chronic night-time cough that was severely disrupting his sleep, alongside multiple symptoms linked to asthma and a recent COPD diagnosis.

Unsurprisingly, there were fears and anxieties surrounding these diagnoses. His symptoms were impacting daily life, and once an active person, he was experiencing debilitating exercise-induced breathlessness that stopped him doing the things he loved.

After just five sessions of Buteyko breathwork, his health improved dramatically. Nearly two months later, he remains free from the original symptoms that brought him to see me.

✨ It was such a joy to work with this client and witness the life-changing effects that Buteyko breathing had on her long-term chronic cough.

Over the years she’d had scans, invasive tests, tried various medications and felt she’d exhausted every option — yet nothing made a difference.

Her family were frustrated, and she felt embarrassed to attend the theatre, cinema, weddings, funerals, or any quiet gathering where her coughing constantly drew attention. It affected every part of her daily life.

By chance, a friend of one of my previous clients (who had experienced something similar) mentioned Buteyko breathing and Breath Therapy. She wasn’t convinced it would help, but decided she had nothing to lose.
