🚨 Flu season has started early this year — and cases are already rising fast across all age groups.

Hospital admissions have shot up by 50% in just one week among older adults.

📈 85+ years: 11.8 per 100,000 (up from 7.2)

👵 75–84 years: 4.9 (up from 3.3)

👶 Under 5s: 5.5 (up from 4.7)

This early surge suggests a very challenging winter ahead for the NHS.

💉🦠 Seasonal Flu Vaccinations 🦠💉

✉️ We are currently contacting eligible patients to book in for flu vaccinations

📱 You may receive a text message with a booking link to arrange your own appointment, we would be grateful if patients could us the booking link, this helps keep out telephone lines clear for other patients

💉 If you are eligible for a covid vaccination, you may be offered this along with your flu vaccine when you come for your appointment

📅 Our first flu clinic will be held on Friday 3rd October

🚗 Car parking at the practice may be busier than usual, we would advise using public transport or walking (if able) to your appointment on this date

On Sunday 7 September at 3pm, the government are testing the emergency alert system to activate phones and tablets with a loud alert.

If you have one hidden from an abusive partner, switch it off. It will still alert even if it's on silent or disconnected from wifi or data.

One of our trustees who is also a dementia campaigner, Bill Wilson, has written about how he avoided his wife’s dementia diagnosis.

His advice: if you are consciously or unconsciously averse to getting a dementia diagnosis. Just get it.

If you are struggling to care for someone with dementia, we can help at North Tyneside Carers’ Centre. Get in touch.

Join our next support group on Friday 5 September with a guest appearance from Betty Hill. She is from North Tyneside Art Studio and will be giving us some helpful advice on how to boost our wellbeing through journaling and mindful drawing. Join us at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth from 10am - 12pm.

11.05am - our telephone lines are back up and running. Apologies for the delays this morning.

Our telephone lines are currently down, we have reported this to our provider.

When you ring our telephone number it sounds like normal, however in practice we are not recieving calls.
