Watch any animal after a frightening experience. A dog shakes. A horse trembles. A bird ruffles every feather.

They are not being dramatic. They are completing the biological stress cycle, burning off surges of adrenaline, and signaling to their brains that the threat has passed.

Humans are the only animals that naturally suppress this reflex. And we are paying for it with chronic tension, anxiety, and an autonomic nervous system stuck in overdrive.

Somatic shaking, sometimes called neurogenic tremoring, involves intentionally shaking your body for 2 to 5 minutes to release physical tension and safely discharge that trapped survival energy.

What it actually does:
🌀 Burns off excess adrenaline and signals your adrenal glands to halt cortisol production
🌀 Interrupts the "freeze" response by forcing the body into active movement
🌀 Resets the autonomic nervous system between high-stress events
🌀 Releases chronic muscle tension, especially in the hips and shoulders
🌀 Creates an almost immediate mood shift

Start at your feet. Shake your legs. Let it travel up your whole body. Look ridiculous. Feel better.

You can do this in your kitchen, your bedroom, or your office with the door closed. No one has to know.
