This incident is progressing towards a situation of resolution. Those previously evacuated are now able to return to their properties and the cordon has been lifted.
We can confirm that a number of 3D printed items (handguns, hand grenades and a claymore landmine) were located at a property on New End in Wainfleet. These items have all been assessed by our Explosive Ordnance Disposal colleagues and have subsequently been deemed to not pose any threat to members of the public.
The 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of fi****ms offences remains in police custody pending further questioning.
We would like to thank the people of Wainfleet for their patience while we dealt with this matter. Their understanding and cooperation while we worked has been very much appreciated.
ORIGINAL RELEASE: 26 September, 12.37pm
We are putting a 60mt cordon in place in the area surrounding New End in Wainfleet.
This follows the discovery of items of interest at a property on New End which need to be examined and removed safely.
The finding was made following a planned warrant carried out earlier today (Friday 26 September).
The cordon extends from the junction of Magdalen Road and Spilsby Road and from North Holme Road to the junction with Spilsby Road.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fi****ms offences.
As a precaution, some properties on Brewster Lane and Spilsby Road are being evacuated, as is The High Street up to Magdalen Road.
Evacuees impacted will be moved to Coronation Hall, just off of the High Street, while the incident is resolved.
There is not believed to be a wider risk to public, but this is an ongoing operation at present, and we're asking people to avoid the area while the emergency services and specialist teams work.
Weโll provide further updates when we have them.
