I’ve yet to watch the referenced programme, but this sounds like amazing news!
Some amazing studies have taken place recently on Psilocybin-containing fungi, otherwise known as 'magic mushrooms’ capacity to improve people’s end-of-life experience.
Typically, we use strong op**te drugs in palliative care. The intention is to diminish pain (not always effective) and they come with a range of side effects. Clients end up having to take more drugs to deal with these side effects. Psychedelic drugs like psilocybin are being hailed as an alternative to opioids, their effect opening our minds and allowing us to find new acceptance.
Many peer-reviewed clinical studies have found that psilocybin, taken in a controlled environment with professional guidance improves:
➡️ Death acceptance
➡️ Life meaning
➡️ Well-being
➡️ Helps significantly with anxiety, depression, and even Alzheimers
➡️ Helps to suppress feelings of dread
➡️ Long-lasting, so you do not have to have repeated doses, it can last months
"It also plays a role in reducing symptoms of fatigue, pain, inflammation, and certain types of mushrooms increase the efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy." - Dr. Esteban Sinde Stompel
Here is a really interesting documentary on Netflix called Fantastic Fungi https://www.netflix.com/title/81183477
