Our sessions this week are now fully booked, but there are still slots available on Wednesday 17th December.

We’re thrilled to see so many parents and carers joining our SEND Surgery Sessions for face-to-face information, advice, and support at South Tyneside Family Hubs.

So far this term, the sessions have provided parents and carers with:
➡️ Support in exploring SEND topics such as Reasonable Adjustments, Ordinarily Available provision.
➡️ Improved understanding of the 'local offer' and what families can access in the area, with or without a diagnosis.
➡️And advice and guidance on many other topics...

These sessions run twice a week during term-time, offering a range of appointment options to suit your needs.

Starting tomorrow, take part in live online discussions with Schools Minister Georgia Gould and a panel of experts.

These events are part of the Department for Education’s commitment to hear from families, teachers, and professionals ahead of the upcoming Schools White Paper, which will outline proposed changes to the SEND system next spring.

Each session will explore a key principle of SEND reform, giving you the chance to ask questions directly to the Minister and expert panel.

Did you know your child doesn’t need an EHCP to receive support in school?

Under SEN Support, schools have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so children with additional needs can fully access education. These adjustments should always be based on your child’s individual needs.

These might include small changes in the classroom, extra support with learning, help with focus, emotions, or sensory needs - see more examples below.
