We love to welcome Amanda "Songbird" to Colbury.
Her song choices always hit the mark, with a little bit for everyone.
And we love that she always has her dancing shoes on!

Bringing a little love into our home.
Valentines Day can sometimes be challenging as residents miss their beloved.
So we try to make it a lovely day for them all, with the whole team on board.
Thanks to Jeannette for making decorations with the residents, to Tracey for the special menu and Helen for cooking delicious food.

The voice of an angel.
Hannah has recently graduated from musical theatre school in London and her voice held us all spellbound.
We were mesmerised and you could almost have heard a pin drop throughout her performance of songs from the shows.
Usually we like to join in (out of tune and making up the words as we go along if we don't know them), but not this time.
I captured a beautiful moment of Peter joining in that brought a tear to our eyes.

Jane from Peaceful Pathways came for her first session here last week. Offering relaxation, meditation, and a range of contemplative sounds from her collection of world instruments, this was an activity that left us all feeling refreshed and calm.
It was so well attended I may need a bigger room next time.
I would recommend this for staff as well!

Last week we had the lovely Sophia with us on work experience. Alongside the Activity team, she engaged with the residents, joining in the activities with them and became my photographer for the week.
It was lovely to hear the compliments she received from the residents - she did mum Emma proud and I hope her teachers get to hear what a thoughtful and mature young lady she is. A credit to them.
Here a pictures of some of the activities she took part in.

And now for something different.
"Silly Scott" magician extraordinaire!
We were baffled and bemused at his tricks, with cards, mind-reading and more.
It was a slick and professional performance that left us questioning how it was done; so clever.

Introducing Danny.
A new entertainer on the circuit, introduced to us by our friend and his, Rustyn George.
His guitar playing really impressed us as he treated us to fabulous versions of many of our favourite songs, playing duets with Rustyn. He made us feel like Cliff and the Shadows were in the room!

Baking is one of our favourite activities. It always fills the home with delicious smells and the cooks get to taste the finished product. There occasionally is a bit left over for everyone else!
This time we had a glut of Bramley apples, so we made apple and cinnamon turnovers, with brown sugar. They were sweet, sticky and very, very tasty.

Flower arranging is going to become a regular activity, so that our home is always brightened up and the arrangements are fresh and colourful. Even our gentlemen like to get in on the act. We use mini teapot, jugs, sugar basins - and occasionally even vases! Don't the arrangements look pretty

Rustyn George (solo) came to visit and it turned into a bit of a party, for no other reason then we like parties! Hats, feather boas, drumsticks and plenty of dancing got into the mxix. It was a lot of fun. And we love it when the care staff are able to join in - even if it's just for one song as they pass through the Ballroom Lounge.

Everyone is loving our recently decorated dining room; it looks really elegant.
The addition of miniature vases of flowers and a daily menu on the table have added to the ambience.
