On the 16th October, there were 9 presentations from our new certified leaders within Specialist Division. They showcased some exciting projects being developed and taken forward.
Wendy Gathercole; successfully ensuring that the valuable work her staff complete are captured correctly on RIO with a refined SOP, made in partnership with her staff, enabling her to lead a more evidence based service.
Matthew Cook; creating a more efficient and effective meal planning process for Blake Day unit, looking very positive for improving therapeutic outcomes…watch this space.
Debbie Barrett; focused on infant mental health outcomes by improving a 4mth group contacts, to be an engaging experience where good parent-child interaction is modelled, increasing parental confidence.
Emily Bennett; recognised the impact on patients with acute mental health transferring to different wards when needing seclusion, one patient stating “above all we want to feel welcomed and cared for”. Emily is leading a project to design a seclusion passport, so staff have timely info when the patient arrives at the alternative ward seclusion unit.
Abigail Stansby; has used the 5s tool to revamp the night duty checklist and using PDSA to get a more sustained outcome, ideally this should help set up and increase the capacity for staff to manage the day duties on the ward, improving patient care.
Sharon O’Callaghan; highlighted children waiting for school nursing support from 4-12 weeks, identifying sleep as one of the most common referrals, she is trailing removing waste from the pathway by immediately sending a workbook for children to complete prior to consultation and simplifying triage process so they get support sooner.
Rebecca Smith; has observed the process of children in care who are from Hampshire but are placed out of this area. She is determined to identify how to decrease the waste in the process and increase the value for the child by working with partners in the system. She is moving forward with QI workshops being planned for her service…
Carol Richards; leading and embracing QI as a vehicle for improving the School Nursing service, choose to focus on the role of the School Nurse in the Early Help process, this has released time to care in schools by increasing capacity for face to face contacts.
