Durerile de spate și mușchii încordați sunt probleme de sănătate predominante care afectează calitatea vieții și productivitatea persoanelor. Cauzele acestor afecțiuni sunt multiple, cuprinzând factori fizici și psihologici. Studies have suggested that this approach, which targets the underlying muscle and nerve pathways, can effectively treat chronic back pain. The mechanism by which electrostimulation in massage therapy can relieve pain is not fully understood, but research has shed some light on the underlying processes. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and neuromuscular electrical stimulation have both been effective in treating chronic musculoskeletal pain. The intensity of the electrical stimulation appears to be a critical factor, with more muscular stimulation generally producing better pain relief. Interestingly, different forms of electrical stimulation, such as electronic acupuncture and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, may invoke subtly different pathways to produce analgesia.
