Long post inbound 😬😆. It’s Awareness Day 🏃♂️💆♂️
Stress is something we all deal with however the way it shows up can look very different from person to person.
For some, it’s tension in the shoulders or neck, tightness through the hips or jaw, or that constant feeling of being “switched on.”
For others, it’s low energy, restless sleep, or feeling snappy and short-fused without knowing why.
The truth is, stress doesn’t just live in your head.
It lives in your body too.
When we’re under pressure, our muscles tighten and our nervous system stays in “fight or flight” mode. Over time, that can lead to pain, stiffness, and fatigue.
For me, I’ve learned that running and training in the gym or in the great outdoors 🌳 are my best ways to manage stress. They help me clear my head, boost my mood, and release that built-up tension. But I also make sure to look after my recovery, keeping my body mobile, stretched, and free of tightness so that stress doesn’t get trapped in my muscles.
Both exercise and massage play a huge role in managing stress.
🏋️♂️ Exercise releases endorphins — your body’s natural stress relievers.
💆♂️ Sports massage helps reduce muscular tension, improves circulation, and calms your nervous system — allowing your body to reset.
If you’ve never had a deep tissue massage to help ease the stress and tension from the muscles, or you have them regularly but only when things are so tight you’re struggling to do your day to day training maybe now is the time to look at it for its other benefits as well 🙏🏻
