Those of us who row, cycle or run regularly are likely to only be using our hips on a linear motion ie front to back - whilst this can improve our glute max function it can weaken our glute med and min leading to lateral (side to side) instability which can be the cause of hip (& ITB), knee and even ankle issues. If this resonates with you try adding in some X-band walks to your weekly exercise plan

We use this to strengthen mind-muscle connections with the glute medius pre-training.

Those of us who regularly row, run or cycle will use our hips in a very linear forward and backward motion.
