The Art of Deep Rest – A Monthly Restorative Yoga Sanctuary

In a world that often celebrates busyness, choosing to rest can feel unfamiliar — yet in yoga philosophy, rest is not laziness, it is wisdom.

Rest allows the nervous system to soften.
It allows the mind to settle.
It allows the body to restore its natural balance.

Rest & Restore is a gentle 90-minute monthly sanctuary where you are invited to step away from the rush of life and return to stillness.

Through a nourishing blend of restorative yoga, mindful hatha flow, breathwork, mudra and guided meditation, each evening explores a different energetic theme inspired by the chakra system and the rhythms of the seasons.

These classes are designed to support:
🌿 deep nervous system rest
🌿 emotional balance and clarity
🌿 gentle energetic reset
🌿 a moment to reconnect with yourself

We close each session with a longer Savasana, meditation, or Yoga Nidra — the art of conscious rest.

✨ The series begins on Friday, 27th March 2026, with
“Returning to Earth” — a grounding Root Chakra practice to help you feel steady, supported, and deeply rooted as spring begins to awaken.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply pause.

Choosing rest is not selfish.
It is a conscious decision to care for your mind, body and energy — so you can move through life with greater calm, clarity and resilience.

February invites us to soften and open — to reconnect with the natural flow that already lives within us.

With the focus on the Sacral Chakra (Svādhiṣṭhāna), this month’s practices explore fluidity, creativity, emotional awareness, and connection — both to ourselves and to others.

Through easeful movement, gentle exploration of the hips, and a curious relationship with breath and sensation, we begin to move with life rather than against it.

Rather than forcing or fixing, these practices invite listening.

Adapting.

Trusting what is present.

This is an invitation to honour pleasure and joy, to welcome change with grace, and to feel supported as the rhythms of life continue to unfold.

Winter invites us to slow down.
To soften our pace, ground our energy, and reconnect with what truly supports us.
This opening Flow & Glow block is centred around the Root Chakra (Mūlādhāra) — exploring steadiness, stability and calm resilience through conscious movement and breath. Postures are approached with intention, allowing you to feel supported, centred and rooted in your body.
Steady reminds us that strength doesn’t need to rush.
It grows quietly, breath by breath.

✨ Finding Your Foundation ✨

January is a gentle invitation to return to the basics.

To slow down, ground, and reconnect with what truly supports us.

This image was taken during my solo travels in 2018, following my yoga training in Bali, and then onward to Maui — on the Road to Hana, standing before a Rainbow Eucalyptus tree. A moment of pause on the path, where travel, practice, and presence met. A quiet reminder that our foundations are shaped not just in stillness, but through the journeys that stretch us, root us, and help us grow.

With the focus on the Root Chakra (Mūlādhāra), this month’s practices explore stability, safety, and a sense of belonging within the body and breath. Through steady, nourishing movement, grounding postures, and moments of stillness, we create space to feel supported — from the ground up.

This is a time to build trust in ourselves.
To remember that when we feel rooted, we can move forward with calm confidence and ease.
As the year begins, may your foundation feel steady, supportive, and kind.

In my Thursday evening class at Sutterton Village Hall (6–7pm), we’re exploring the theme Finding Your Foundation, inspired by the Root Chakra.

Expect a steady, nourishing practice designed to help you feel:
🌱 grounded in your body
🌱 supported in your breath
🌱 calm, steady, and centred
This class is open to all levels — whether you’re completely new to yoga, returning after a break, or looking for a gentler, grounding practice to support you through winter.
