Once again we’ve been super busy, investigating the origins of Milton Keynes, we had a rather wet and windy trip out to frampton marsh, although all enjoyed a sausage sarnie, doing some baking, although one was more successful than the other, and joining in with the Great British Bird Watch. It was so lovely to see such a variety of birds enjoying the food from our bird table. We also had our own Burns night, we made our own Scottish themed table mats and our resident baker, David made us all some fab shortbread to enjoy. It was so tasty and moreish! 🍪🐦‍⬛🪶🕊️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We celebrated Dolly Partons birthday this week with a morning of her songs, we knew most of the words! 😂 It was popcorn day as well so we had a movie afternoon with lots of bowls of popcorn and assorted snacks whilst watching Shrek, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Weve been making sure to put some fat balls out for our birds, ready for the British bird watch this coming weekend, but nothing happens before Beryl has had her coffee. We were treated to a visit from our resident robin. After we’d done a quiz-that cheated telling us we only got 7/12 when we know we got 11!- we also had a lovely singalong and in the afternoon, as today was cheese lovers day we made some cheese straws . They went down a treat 😋

A very wet and breezy day at Frampton Marsh. The ducks enjoyed it though and if we’re really honest we only went for cake!🦆🦆🍪🌨️🎼🎼

Lots of interesting things tried so far this week, the music quiz was a big hit, and we all love throwing the balls onto the target. We also loved watching Torville and Dean winning a gold medal in the olympics in 1984. We put our tiny tablet to work today for some exercise and art sessions. We worked on balance and standing, Richard and Beryl really threw themselves into it. Peter loved making fireworks and we reminisced about our own show back on bonfire night.

Even tho it’s been cold some of our residents still wanted their fresh air fix so we braved a quick walk round the building. Everyone else has stayed snug inside. We’ve made blow pictures and turned some into butterflies , we’ve had virtual tours of the Eden Complex and we’ve watched some fun movies. Janet’s very taken with the animated spy movie. Beryl found her feet in the kitchen and made herself a cuppa with some assist with the hot water and we’ve made our own snowballs from gloves and paper and competed throwing them at a target. #

Trying to get back into the swing of things over the last couple of days with music, movement, even ginger tried his hand at skittles, and some baking!! Although the shortbread our amazing resident David made may just have put all the calories back that we had worked so hard to reduce! O well, we’ll try again tomorrow!! ⚽️🎳🍪🍪🎼🎼

We braved the cold today and took our lovely resident Beryl for a trip to Springfield’s for a walk round the gardens…. The fountain still looked fab even though it was frozen, ducks didn’t seem to impressed though! We then warmed up with a lovely hot drink!
We didn’t forget our little feathered friends either and topped up our birdfeeder. 🐦‍⬛🦆🦆❄️🌨️⛄️⛄️

We’ve been mostly keeping warm inside the last few days with movie days , quiz show afternoon , dot to dots and spot the balls, mirror pictures and colouring. We had a fun game matching singers to songs with bonus points for singing and we had a tense snakes and ladders tournament. We sadly said goodbye to Christmas and took the decorations down but we did make ourselves a happy little Christmas Carol tree substitute while we worked. We had a four legged visitor for cuddles and treats. Intrepid Keith even braved the cold and took him for a short walk

We’re all in that quiet period when the excitement of Christmas and New Year have passed but we haven’t quite got back into our normal routine, so we’ve kept it slow and simple and played some board games and talked about our wishes for the coming year. One resident did, however, manage a couple of games of pool at the pub!

We got our thinking caps on here at Beech Lodge today and got busy with spot the ball, mirror pictures, word search and spot the difference. We have some beady eyes here, everyone found all the differences! We stepped it up a bit before lunch and got the Velcro pads and balls out but we all preferred the rackets. We had a few volleys before we had some balancing competitions. Dave found balancing the ball to easy so he showboated a bit with some bounces. Of course we’re not forgetting our wild birds in the cold weather and have been topping up the feeders ready for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch in January 🐦‍⬛🦉🦅🏸⚽️

Merry Christmas everybody. We’ve had a lovely day here at beech lodge. Frosty the Snowman came to help deliver presents, he’s such a big hit every year and brings so much laughter. We spent the morning opening presents and having fun. We’ve had lots of visitors and some families had lunch with us. Thank you to chefs Madeleine and Bijoy and not to forget Joe, they’ve worked so hard to give us such a fabulous spread, it was amazing. And thank you to the care and support teams who have worked double time today to make sure everyone had the best time.⛄️🎄🌲🎅🍹🎁🎁⛄️☃️❄️
