Some things our dogs do, or don't do, relate to pain. These may appear to be "behavioural" issues, but actually quite a few of these behaviours can be linked to pain or discomfort. Examples are grumpiness, reluctance to go for a walk, anxiety, not playing, just to name a few. And some phyisical indicators can also mean pain: a dry nose, not stretching both front & back legs. Regular tummy upsets. A**l gland issues. Skin disorders. Paw licking. Changes in their coat. Dogs don't shout about pain. They rely on us to notice any changes. Mum tucked me in cos it was a bit chilly this morning. A pushchair or buggy has been a wonderful tool for getting Ben out to enjoy the fresh air & smells. He gets lots of cuddles & biscuits from people, so it's win win! What other tools are there to help our dogs as they age or deal with health issues? Not only can your local Galen Myotherapist offer massage treatments, but we can give you lots of ideas & advice to help you positively manage your dog during what can be a very difficult time.

🍂 AUTUMN TOXINS 🍂

🍎Fallen fruit might seem innocent... but it can be risky!🍎

Fermenting fruit produces alcohol, which can be dangerous to pets if eaten. Even small amounts can lead to vomiting, diarrhoea, wobbliness, or worse.

Watch out for fallen fruit in your garden or on countryside walks. If your pet has a habit of scavenging, it’s best to keep them on a lead in high-risk areas.

🍇 If you think your pet might’ve eaten rotten fruit, please give us a call. 🍇

Toenails. If you can hear click click click when your dog walks across a hard floor, then their nails are too long. But so what? It affects their posture and makes them lean forwards and arch their back. Stimulation to the dog's feet tells them where the ground is and how to maintain balance. When their nails touch the ground it tells their brain that they are walking up hill!
