Some of the very many benefits of mindful walks

💚 Reduces anxiety and stress
💚 Boosts endorphins
💚 Encourages focus and clarity
💚 Inspires awe/wonder
💚 Reconnects us with the natural world

Along with many many more benefits to both physical and mental health. Also mindful walking (noticing the things around you as you go) can be a much easier route into meditation with very similar benefits.

Give it a go! 🌳🪾🍁🍂

/Speak the unspoken, say the unsaid/

We filter so much in our day to day lives (often rightly so), but this means that there are many thoughts, opinions and feelings that live inside us without ever being spoken. These can begin to feel heavy, shameful or confusing.

Within the safety of the therapeutic relationship there is space to give voice to the unspoken, in doing so we can unpick, unburden and understand ourselves on a much deeper level.

A weight is lifted when the unsaid is finally spoken.

The therapy room is your space to be honest, about your issues, difficulties, feelings about others and yourself.

However for a person to be truly honest they need to know there is no threat to self, no fear of judgement, retaliation, conflict or discomfort. (Often a rare thing with honesty!)

That is what I offer, a place where you can explore, reflect on and release the thoughts and feelings that have been weighing you down. Safely.

Carl Rogers wisdom 🌅

People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be.

When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a little on the right hand corner, and put a bit more purple along the base, and use a little more pink in the cloud color.”

I don’t do that. I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch it with awe as it unfolds.

A lovely, simple and effective practice

Anxiety loves to bring company; doubt, shame, self criticism etc. We spiral. We judge. We think something must be wrong with us. But what if, just for today, you offered yourself the kindness you'd give a friend?

This week’s meditation is a self-compassion practice.

Finding a comfortable position, closing the eyes or softening the gaze.

Start by settling into the breath, finding a peaceful rhythm. Feel the body resting, the ground beneath you.

Then, place a hand on the heart or a comforting spot and quietly say one or all of the following:

“This is hard.”
“I’m doing just fine.”
“I am not alone.”

“This too shall pass.”

Repeat slowly. Letting the words sink in.

You may feel resistance or uncomfortable. That’s okay, you can change the words to suit. Compassion takes practice. Yet in time, the nervous system begins to soften and things begin to ease…

If you could speak to yourself with kindness today, what would you most need to say?

I see over and over that to regain our internal compass that we must focus on two guiding stars
Instincts 💜
Values 🌿
Instincts and Values are those all knowing guides on the choices we need to make and the direction we need to travel.
There may be some (or lots) of work to do to uncover these and clear the way to all that has been blocking them but when you discover them they will always set you on the right path.

We go to all sorts of lengths, often unconsciously, to hide from what has hurt us. But only by attuning to pain can we hope to heal

Feeling overwhelmed or activated? Try this. 💜

These 5 trauma-informed steps are designed to meet your nervous system where it is—offering gentle, grounding support when things feel too much.

Why it works: Our bodies need to feel safe before we can process or problem-solve. These steps help calm your system through orientation, movement, breath, and connection.

They’re practical, simple, and can be used anywhere: at your desk, in your classroom, or in a quiet moment alone.

Save this for the days when you need to come back to yourself. You’ve got this! 🧠💫
