In honour of National Play Day 2025, we're celebrating the power of play and sharing our top tips for supporting autistic children to explore and enjoy play in neuroaffirming ways:

✨ Follow the child’s lead ✨

Let the child guide the interaction based on what brings them joy.

✨ Respect stimming and sensory needs ✨

Stimming is a valid and important part of self-expression and regulation.

✨ Presume competence ✨

Non-speaking is not the same as non-understanding.

✨ Don’t force eye contact or turn-taking ✨

These are not required for meaningful connected play.

✨ Celebrate special interests ✨

Use them as a bridge for connection, creativity, and shared joy.

💛 Every child plays in their own way.
Let’s make play inclusive, respectful, and empowering 💛
