This week’s profile is of CS. C is well known to many through her work at the Bakeability Cafe, where she takes food orders and payment. She has a real talent for customer service, remembering people’s names and greeting them in a welcoming way. She has coped very well with the increasing business of the cafe, keeping a cool head and operating the Point of Sale machine with skill. She prepares cookies for the cafe and makes cakes to order on a Friday. C also works as a volunteer at the Purplespoon Cafe in Highbridge and attends Sounds Joyful community music sessions. She is an enthusiastic member of the gym and her swimming has improved hugely since she started regular sessions. She is a kind and thoughtful young woman who is a real asset to the group.

Our profile this week is of HA. H is one of our original members. He is interested in all things outdoors, whether working with the alpacas, the Mowability team, looking after the SO chickens or building with wood. He loves animals, especially cats and cows. He is to be congratulated for the effort he is putting in at the gym to increase his physical strength and stamina. He loves music and plays in our hand chime group. Above all H enjoys a laugh, especially if the humour is of the slapstick variety!

Bakeability Cafe open on Thursdays at Bawdrip Parish Hall from 12-2.30 ( last orders 2pm).

We are so grateful to our customers for their support of our young people. To help them serve you efficiently, it would be great if you could address them by name ( on their aprons) before asking for something. Some of our members will not necessarily realise they are being addressed without their attention being focused first. It is also very helpful if you give one instruction or request at a time. Many of you do this already and it really helps!

Any leftover goods will be put into our Too Brill to Bin boxes for sale on Friday. Prices will range per box depending on contents and will be available from Cossington Village Hall between 11-12 am or from Devon House in Bawdrip between 4.30 - 5.30 ( please note revised time) We will post the number of boxes available on a Thursday evening. Help us in the fight against food waste!

Thank you from the Stepping Out team for all your support.

We are excited to be taking part in the Great Poldens Mangelwurzelloff - a new event taking place this year. Local people have been given seeds to grow and the results will be entered into a competition later in the year. Some of the categories suggested are the biggest, longest, gnarliest and most like its grower! There will also be recipe tips and a chance to sample this heritage vegetable - Mangelwurzel soup at the cafe anyone?
Watch this space for progress reports on our wurzel babies.
