This week’s profile is of HB. H was one of Stepping Out’s first three members. She has made tremendous progress with her spoken and written communication over the last four years and always throws herself into every activity with enthusiasm and concentration. She can be found volunteering with the alpacas, working out at the gym and swimming lengths at the pool, crafting with great attention to detail, playing in our hand chimes group, shopping, working in a charity shop and making cakes. H loves music and dancing and her smile lights up the room!

We have a new venture coming up!

From the end of November, Bakeability will be running a new monthly cafe, The Soup Stop, in Cossington Village Hall, in partnership with the Hall Committee. Last Friday in the month from 11.30 - 1.00pm, serving soup, homemade rolls, cheese scones, sausage rolls, cake and hot drinks. Come and get warm in the winter chill and meet your friends and neighbours. All welcome!

First Soup Stop - Friday 28th November!

This week’s profile is of JC, who can turn his hand to many different roles and activities at Stepping Out. He can be seen working out at the gym, pruning, cutting back and mowing in Mowability, cleaning the hall at Bawdrip, helping prepare lunch, doing woodwork for Christmas, delivering bread and serving pastries at the cafe. As well as being reliable and hardworking, J is one of our most cheerful members, has a great sense of humour and makes us all laugh every day!

This week’s profile is of BC. B is working hard in the gym and the swimming pool at the moment and his fitness is improving. He works as a waiter at our Thursday cafe, serving customers with his characteristic friendly manner. He’s not so keen on serving cakes! He is one of our best bread-makers, kneading the dough with skill every Friday and has just started to deliver bread and cakes to customers in the afternoon. B loves music and is a shining light at the weekly Sounds Joyful group and in our own hand chimes group. His confidence has blossomed since going there and he now gets up and dances with no persuasion needed! The same is true at the Crispin Hall disco which most of our members attend once a month.

This week’s profile is of RB, who records his own radio programme at GWS Radio every Friday for broadcast on a Saturday morning 10.00-11.00am on 107.1 FM. He would love it if you listened. Tomorrow’s show includes some spooky tunes for Halloween!

As well as being a volunteer DJ, R works with an alpaca herd, takes part in our Mowability micro- enterprise, delivers bread for Bakeabilty, works out at the gym, cooks lunch for the group on a Wednesday, sets up for our Thursday cafe and this week has been trying his hands at Christmas crafts. Multi- talented indeed!

AK: Writing my diary!

AK: I like looking through all the photos and thinking about all the things we’ve done this week.

FE: Did anything go wrong this week?
AK: I didn’t get a chance to do the horses. 😔 Becky was on holiday.

AK: I groom them, I clean their hooves with a pick.
FE: is it just horses?
AK: no it’s horses and ponies and donkeys too!
SR: who is your favourite horse?
AK: Sheena, coz I like giving her cuddles!

SR: Did you enjoy Sounds Joyful?
AK: Yes! Because of Nanny Joyful! And we sang “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You”, “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “Lean Forwards Lean Backwards”! Have you ever been to Sounds Joyful?
