Using a colour tracker can be one tool to objectively measure change in a scar. We have created this tool for diverse skin tones and are happy for anyone who would like to use this to download and save or share a copy. More methods for tracking changes in scars are needed. This attachment pdf is FREE to use and share. I'm hoping it can be downloaded from the post.

Colour usually changes as the scar heals - initially darker or more red and then blending in with the normal skin tones. This happens very gradually and in clinic it's hard to track changes, photos look different when taken in different light.

With this simple tool, in clinic you can note the number they are most similar to and compare again when they next visit. You can give your client a chart to take home and check every week or two for improvements. Often changes happen slowly so it can be disheartening for people with scars if they cant see the changes.

Not everyone has an issue with their scar tissue at skin level, the scar may look great visually- and so the focus will be on tracking pain, tightness, sensory damage and so on and for these people other assessment methods are needed.

At Restore Therapy we are hopefully more research will happen within scar treatments to help us improve more to bring the best results - in the shortest time - for people impacted by injury and surgery.
