World Prematurity Day 💜
Today is a day that sits close to my heart - not just as a mum or a counsellor, but as someone who has walked the fragile hope-filled terrifying and beautiful path of prematurity twice.
Both of my babies arrived earlier than expected, 12 weeks and 6 weeks early both by emergency c-section, before their little bodies were fully ready for the world. I remember the monitors, the quiet hum of NICU, the tiny nappies, the fragile skin, and the way my heart lived inside an incubator. I remember learning strength I didn’t know I had and breaking in ways I didn’t know were possible.
Being a mum of premature babies teaches you how powerful the smallest fighters can be. Being a counsellor reminds me daily how deeply parents carry those early days - the fear, the guilt, the gratitude, the trauma, the resilience.
To every parent who has sat beside an incubator, counting breaths and praying for grams gained - I see you. To every premature baby who fought or is still fighting - you are extraordinary. To the NICU teams who become family, thank you for giving us hope when we felt empty.
Today I honour my two little warriors and all of the parents who have walked or are walking this unexpected road.
You are stronger than you know.
Your story matters.
And you’re never alone. 💜
