Happy World Book Day from Springfield Manor! 🌎📚🐛🧡

Our staff and residents have had a blast dressing up and capturing so many memories in their World Book Day Photobooth Frame today! 📸

We certainly didn’t think we’d see Mr Tickle, The Smurfs, Where’s Wally and 2 Sherlock Holmes’ all in one room! 🤭🔎📕✨

Our Used Book Sale was a wonderful success! It was so great to see our residents reading, recommending and sharing books with one another! Together, they raised a fantastic £25 to add to their trip fund for the summer! 🌞🚕

Thank you to all of our staff, residents and relatives who dressed up and made purchases - you’ve made the day so much fun for our residents and helped fund and make so many amazing new memories! ♥️

Our Used Book Sale is taking place tomorrow - 10:30am - 12:30pm in our Cafe! 📙🏷️✨

All are welcome to shop a variety of used books, with all donations going towards our residents Activity Fund! 💰

Our residents have been busy this week enjoying a range of book-themed activities, including bookmark making and designing a World Book Day Photobooth Frame for us to take pictures with during our Fancy Dress! 📖📸

We can’t wait to see everyone in fancy dress, and to spend the morning chatting and enjoying all things books - we hope to see you there! 🤓📚

Thank you to Reverend Liz, Stephen and Bobbie from St John’s Church for their first Prayer and Worship Service of 2026 on our Foxfield Community! ⛪️🎵✨

The team put together a handout for our residents to follow along, and led a beautiful service centred around our residents favourite hymns and scriptures! 🤲🏻

It’s always so special seeing our residents gather together to share songs, faith and words of encouragement - we can’t wait to welcome you all, and the lovely Annie, back again soon! 🐾✝️

The wonderful team at Tesco Trentvale have put together a beautiful hamper full of their finest teas, coffees, biscuits and preserves for one lucky person to win in time for Mother’s Day! ☕️🌸

The Hamper Raffle will be set up on our Reception Desk from Tuesday 3rd of March (tomorrow) to 12pm on Friday 13th of March - with the winner being contacted on the afternoon of 13th! 🏆

Raffle tickets are £2, and all money raised will be added to our resident’s Activity Fund! 🎟️

Mother’s Day Raffle and Knit and Natter Event! 🌟🌸

Calling all Crocheters and Knitters…we are hosting our first Public Knit and Natter Group for Mother’s Day! 🧶🌷✨

Join us on Friday 13th of March, 10:30am to 12:30pm in our Cafe to share stories, refreshments, good company, and, of course, a love for knitting and crocheting! 🧁

We ask that anyone attending contributes a £2 donation to our Residents Activity Fund - which will automatically secure you a raffle ticket for our Mother’s Day Hamper! 🎟️🌟

We look forward to welcoming each of you for a morning of skill sharing - and celebrating our wonderful Mother’s ahead of Mother’s Day! 💕

Our Knit and Natter is:
🧐 Beginner Friendly - No knitting experience is required! We will do our best to share our knitting skills with you - we even have extra needles, hooks and wool!
🧠 Dementia Friendly - Our Home is Dementia and Alzheimer’s Friendly, offering a warm, and caring environment to relax in!

Mocktails were on the Menu for our ‘Mocktails & Quiz’ social last Friday!🍹🌅🧐🔍

Megan and Nicky became master mixologists for the afternoon, creating 3 fruity mocktails for our residents - transporting them from rainy Stoke on Trent to sunny Barbados! 🌞🍸

Their mocktails included:

A Cranberry Orange Spritz 🍊

A Strawberry Daiquiri 🍓

and A Sweet Sunrise 🍍

Our residents sipped on their mocktails and snacked on fresh fruit as they got stuck into our February themed quiz - full of questions all about their musical favourites, film club movies, and February Trivia! 🎵🎬

Our quiz winners were dream-team Nigel and Britt - who scored a fantastic 18/20! 🏆

What a wonderful afternoon, and such a fun spin on our Quiz Social! Thank you to our Activities Team for creating such a vibrant and funny afternoon - our residents thoroughly enjoyed your drinks and quiz! ✨🥹

February has been packed full of fantastic movies in our Weekly Film Club! 🎬♥️

Every Monday and Wednesday afternoon, our activities team screen planned, and surprise, film screenings in our cinema room! This month, their surprise movie theme has been Romance films - sprinkled with some great requests from our residents in between! 💕🎞️

A little update on our Happiness Hive Art Club Project! 🐝🧡

More of our residents have been helping us paint and prepare egg trays this week to transform into a honeycomb hive display! 🍯

They have also begun making the bees that will inhabit their hive - all made entirely out of recycled materials too! The bees are looking fantastic, and all have their own unique style - in Ken’s case, some of that style ended up on a nearby mug too! 🤭🐝☕️

The project is coming along marvellously, and we love hearing all the fun, laughter and ‘buzz’ coming from our Activity Room on Art Club Day! 🎨✨

Calling all Bookworms… we are hosting a Used Book Sale for World Book Day! 📙🪱✨🔍

Join us on Thursday 5th of March, 10:30am to 12:30pm, in our Cafe to shop a variety of used books - all donated by relatives, staff and the Burslem Rotary! We are open to the Public! 📚

Did we mention the day is fancy dress too? Get in the World Book Day spirit and come dressed as your favourite book character - our staff will be! 🤭🎩🪄👓

Our book sale will include:
Children’s and Teen Fiction
Hobby Books
Recipe and Cookbooks
Autobiographies and Biographies
War and History
& General Fiction…

All donations from the event will be added to our Resident’s Activity Fund for our next round of trips in the Summer! 🌞🚌

Reading is one of the most powerful ways to expand the mind and enrich the soul - no matter your age! We are so excited to use our Cafe to spread the love of reading! 📖

Simon and some of the congregation from Hope Church visited our Cafe last week for a Sunday Service! ⛪️🫱🏼‍🫲🏽☕️

The team hosted a short Sunday service for our residents, complete with a beautiful selection of hymns performed on our Piano! 🎹 🤲🏻

Simon and the team hope to visit once a month to enrich our residents and keep them in touch with the community and their faith! ✝️✨

Dates and resources will be available on our Community Notice Boards around the home as each visit is arranged! 🗓️

Happy Pancake Day! 🥞✨

We’ve spent the day in our Cafe enjoying a Pancake Decorationg Station set up by our activities team!👩🏼‍🍳

Our residents used a selection of fresh fruit and nutella to whip up some deliciously decorated pancakes - some of which we managed to snap a photo of before they were tucked straight into! 🍓🍌🍫

Our wonderful kitchen team served each community pancakes for this afternoons snack - with plenty of sugar, lemon juice and cream to go round! 🍋

It’s been so lovely seeing our residents create their own pancakes, and indulge in their treats with each other at the dining table! 🥹

We hope you all have a fabulous evening flipping pancakes - share your pancake day pictures below! 🥞📸
