We know there's a lot in the news about right now, so we want to take a moment to share the symptoms that can help spot the disease early. The earlier it’s found, the more treatable it’s likely to be.

Having these symptoms doesn’t always mean you have bowel cancer but it’s still important to find out what’s causing them. Sometimes these symptoms may come and go or might not feel that serious. It’s still important to talk to your GP.

The liquid detergent in washing pods and capsules can cause life-changing chemical burns to eyes, skin and throats.

So, while it’s tempting to keep laundry pods next to the washing machine for convenience, they’re safer in a high or lockable cupboard out of the reach of children.

And, when you’re shopping, look out for laundry products with a bittering agent like Bitrex – it tastes so horrible, children spit it out instead of swallowing, preventing accidental poisoning.

In just 15 seconds a young child can lose consciousness if they get tangled in a blind cord. They can stop breathing in 2-3 minutes. Yet something as simple as a £1 cleat hook and some strong adhesive can help to stop that happening.

Please take a moment to check that any blind cords in your home have suitable safety devices. These include cleat hooks, tidies or tensioners.

If there isn’t one fitted, fit one yourself or you could ask a friend or relative to help. If drilling into the wall is a problem you can use a strong adhesive, just make sure you’re satisfied that it’s securely attached.

You can book directly with our First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) without needing to see a GP first.

Our FCP can assess and help with new MSK issues such as:
• Back or neck pain
• Shoulder, hip, knee, or ankle pain
• Muscle strains and joint pain
• Sports injuries
• Sprains, tendon or ligament problems

They can assess your symptoms, give advice and exercises and help you decide the best next steps for your care.
