Stranraer Cancer Drop In Centre are totally honoured to be in the last four of Awarding Wigtownshire in the People's Choice Award, this is the only award that comes down to the public vote so if you think we deserve this award then please vote for us.
A bit about what we do:
Stranraer Cancer Drop In Centre has been operational in this community for over 26 years, we are proud that we have been recognised for the work we do to support Wigtownshires cancer patients, their families, those bereaved and suffers of other long term conditions.
Alongside the 'Drop In' service which we run four mornings a week, we now have a very comprehensive timetable of support groups for people. Each month we hold no fewer than 9 support groups, in 2025 over 800 people attended these groups.
We assist patients with benefits advice, blue badge applications, grant applications, housing issues etc.
We also provide patients with various complimentary therapies, both at our Centre and at private locations in the community, last year we were able to provide over 700 therapies to patient, carers and relatives, at no cost to the clients.
We also assist patients in getting to and from hospital appointments where possible, again in 2025 we assisted patients with over 30,000 miles. Journeys that may well of not been possible if it had not been for all the amazing volunteer drivers from ourselves, Order of St John and The Royal Voluntary Service.
